Re: DOD - 250 Overdrive Preamp [model comparision] [schematic]

I don't think the order makes a difference. It's more of a design and layout preference but I could be wrong. Here is an official company schematic for the DOD Overdrive Preamp 250. See my attachment upload. This appears to be post grey era but has all the elements of both versions. Thanks to Tom Cr...

New 250 LTD demo from clean boost to overdrive. Maybe you'll find this one a little more useful:

Re: Demo: Limited Edition DOD Overdrive Preamp 250

Yes I understand your point. But in that playing style 'context' it easily captures the recognizable original tone of the late 70's grey 250 because that's what it's based on and marketed as, in contrast to the later 90's re-issue yellow and YJM308 which didn't quite do it for me even though people ...

Re: Demo: Limited Edition DOD Overdrive Preamp 250

So besides all that what do you guys think if the two demo videos I linked here? I asked my friend Dean to specifically make some neoclassic rock style demos to show off the pedal, just to contrast with all the other general rock riff demos popping up. I think it sounds really good for any genre of ...

Re: Demo: Limited Edition DOD Overdrive Preamp 250

I didn't mean to imply one sounded better or built better than the other. In fact this new 250 sounds identical except the level pot is now a B100K linear taper instead of an A100K audio taper like I used. But I'm a big fan and collector of DOD and MXR pedals and decided for a change to remove both ...

MXR Distortion+ 1976 Schematic

Here's a re-drawn schematic that I made of a 1976 MXR Distortion+ based on a MXR factory schematic diagram. I find it interesting how manufacturers style the layout of their products vs user traced schematics from studying pedal circuit boards and wiring: http://home.comcast.net/~snmavronis/mxr_dist...

Re: Boss NS-2 Noise Suppressor [schematic]

Someone e-mailed me from here (Lukas?) looking for photos of the Boss NS-2 circuit board. I didn't want to unmount mine from the pedalboard so did a Google image search and found these:

Re: DOD FX-65 Stereo Chorus [schematic]

Interesting, read a comparision review article. I didn't realize the FX-60 is so close except for the extra knob. Put the FX-65 back together and tried it out aftr a long time... Amazing chorus tones. Just wish the ugly blue sucker was smaller. At around 3" wide the beast takes up too much space on ...

DOD - FX65 Stereo Chorus [schematic]

I have a 1987 DOD FX-65 Stereo Chorus that was given to me a couple years ago by a work friend. It actually works except the pots need cleaning or replaced. Here are some photos I just took with gut shots of both sides of the PCB. Apparently it has a pretty good reputation back in the day and it sou...

Re: Dyna Comp Transistor Equivalents

FYI, I got an email reply from Steve at Small Bear Electronics where I bought my 2SC1849 transistors:
Looking at the front with the leads pointing down, from left: E B C. Same as your drawing.

Re: Dyna Comp Transistor Equivalents

Well I did some testing on the 2SC1849 using a digital meter in diode test mode. I read how the relationship of the emitter to collector is such that the voltage drop is 'slightly greater' between the emitter and base than between the collector and base. First though I used a simple diode test to ve...

Re: Dyna Comp Transistor Equivalents

They have a CBE pinout.... :) Thanks that may work if these are not a center base configuration. CBE or EBC doesn't matter since I can just turn them around as long as I determine the emitter side. When my dad gives me is transistor tester schematic I'll share it here someplace. The only thing a me...

Re: Dyna Comp Transistor Equivalents

[EDIT] I just found this Asian datasheet on the 2SC1849 / 2SC1850 - http://jp.ic-on-line.cn/IOL/datasheet/2 ... 951106.pdf

If this is true to the ones I got from Small Bear then I am safe with my PCB layout. Can anyone confirm if they also got some from SB too?

Re: Dyna Comp Transistor Equivalents

I just got the remaining parts I need including the 2SC1849's from Small Bear. My father is going to e-mail me instructions later on how to make a transistor tester to determine NPN or PNP and where the emitter base collector is. In the meantime, I know these are NPN transitors but can anyone confir...

I don't like the threads showing either. It would be alright if the outside nut hid them. I'll experiment before my next build.

Someone just told me about inside mount plastic DC jacks so maybe this isn't needed.
