Re: Boss - SD-1
Instead of starting a new thread, I'll just add this info here. A friend asked me to look at his Keeley modded SD-1. Attached are some pictures. This is a Keeled modded MIJ Boss SD-1. The red LED indicator has been replaced with a blue LED. A hole has been drilled in the top and a mini toggle switch...

DOD - FX70 Stereo Flanger
I have a nice old DOD FX70 Stereo Flanger that uses the MN3007 and MN3101 chips. What I dig about this pedal is that with the regeneration turned all the way down, it has a sweet chorus-like tone. I want to get more of that. Are there any mods I can do to this thing to make it less like a "flan...

Re: Joyo JF-36 Sweet Baby [schematic]
There they are! Thanks for the links Desdog.
The cap I removed is C3 on the Mad Professor - Sweet Honey OD schematic. D3 & D4 is where I installed the 2N7000 clipper in parallel across the LEDs.

Re: Joyo Sweet Baby Overdrive [schematic]
Picked up three Joyo pedals, American Sound, Us Dream and Sweet Baby, to see what all the hype was about. Of the three, I liked the Sweet Baby the least. It was too bright and crunchy for my tastes. So, out came the soldering Iron. I removed the treble bleed cap at the volume control, which helped a...

Re: Boss ODB-3 mods (and Behringer clone)
I've been spending some time modifying a Boss ODB-1 and rather than starting a new topic, I'll just add to this one. The common schematic on the web does not list part reference numbers. So, as I make progress I'll attach a marked up one. The Wampler book mods have always sounded good to me so I sta...

Re: Ibanez - FZ-7 Fuzz (Help me modify this fuzz!)
Raising a zombie thread to share my mods for the Ibanez FZ7 fuzz. I just bought a Vox AC15 amp and found out that it loves fuzz. So, I tested my small collection of fuzz pedals and noted their idiosyncrasies. The problem I had with the Ibanez was that it had tone suck in bypass. What I ended up doin...

There is one mod that I did to my OD-3. That was removing D6 & D7. My OD3 is my #1 dirt pedal.

Yes, it is safe to use 1/2 watt in place of 1/4 watt resistors in the circuit.

Arion - SOD-1 Overdrive [schematic]
Here is the first draft of the schematic. This is the Japanese version that comes with the orange battery cover. My son in law has the version made in Sri Lanka but, this Japanese one sounds better. I prefer this pedal on my guitars with humbuckers. It does for hummers what a Tube Screamer does for ...

Re: Silvertone 1484 - Guts
More 1484 love.... I got mine for doing $200 worth of work for a guy. It came with the original Jensen speakers and American tubes. Had to repair the reverb spring and replace the electrolytics, but the amp sounds GLORIOUS. Saw one used @ GC for $1,299. It's a Nathan Daniels design and sound...

grizzlytone got it. Thanks! Now the schematic is coming together.
The Arion SOD-1 is a unique beast. It's a bear (sorry for the pun!) to trace because there a lot of jumpers. (Zero ohm resistors.) It has asymmetrical clipping, like a Boss SD1, and a tone circuit similar to a boss DS1.

Need FET I.D. help - Arion SOD-1 Japan content [schematic]
I'm drawing up the schematic for the MIJ Arion SOD-1 and need some help. There is a FET in the analog switching that I cannot identify. it is marked '3330'. Does anyone know what it is?

Re: time to buy tubes. suggestions?
As the owner of an amp repair shop, I cast another vote for JJ. Some vendors burn them in and can provide you with matched sets for the output tubes. Go with those. Ruby Tubes are also good. Their tubes are made by various manufacturers, tested, rebranded and screened. They are very good. Avoid Sovt...

Re: BBE - Green Screamer modification
Guitar Denter seems to be blowing these out for $44 this month. So, yesterday I grabbed one. The box includes a 9 volt wall wart and a carbon battery. I liked the way chords sound on it using humbuckers in my Les Paul. Today, I socketed the chip and tried a bunch. Indeed a TI 4558 sounds superior to...

Re: Where can I purchase a pair of TI RC4558P chips for a TS-9?
Original TI 4558's can be tough to find. I found some in an old Peavey guitar amp that wasn't worth fixing.
