Re: Vertex NOS Axis Wah - De-gooped - [Traced] [traced]

The ONLY difference between the BBE and the Vertex NOS versions: 1. The Wah Pots 2. The BBE model I had, has carbon film resistors. I contacted Paul Gagon (The VP of Technology at BBE) and he told me that BBE went to metal film resistors near the end of 2009. Serial number on the BBE is : 200909087...

Re: Germanium Diode Options

They are only slightly less common than 1n34a. Both are more common that 1n270 in my experience. !n34a and 1n60 are pretty interchangeable. Small Bear has them of course. They can all pop up on websites. Tayda has them but it is a good chance they are merely workalikes. mklec is a new vendor. http:/...

Re: question about effects schematics and internet

I wouldn't trust what the faceless govt decided was a musical effect and what wasn't. Government don't know toan. :P I will just trust the diy'ers who came before and stand on their shoulders and try to do something productive in the community myself. There is already several lifetimes worth of info...

Re: Clipping Diodes

assymetrical is unequal forward voltage on the each side of diodes clipping.
symmetrical means equal forward voltage each way.
Put this and what PokeyPete said together and I think you get the idea. :)

Your quick description in the the first post is right on. You demo sounds like a light rat. smooth attack and overdrive but not fizzy at all.

That gain pot is dual ganged. There seems to be a quality problem with the posts being easy to separate from the pots (from TGP). Still might be a good deal if you need to pimp out the pots.

Guillaume,
looks like you have bought better steel stamps, or are you guys are just getting really skilled at it. I liked the look and tried it, but it is a pain in the ass.

I really dig the phasey envelope effect. It sounds really good on the neck pickup in your demo. Over the top barely controlled mayhem is my sound. Good one, Jimi.

"The small dimension of the circuit board" lead to a high parts density. There is an understatement.
