Re: power amp for Eleven Rack?

Hi folks, IMHO play an electric guitar with any sort of emulator instead to play plugged it to an authentic tube amplifier and their cabinet, produces the same feeling that play a video game recreating an rally car (or the kind of race car you like), versus drive an authentic car. With a tube amp or...

Re: Requesting Laney Klipp circuit analysis.

What throws me off is it appears to be some variety of phase splitter. Hi Rambozo, The second preamp tube are connected in order to drive the second section from the cathode of the first one. Also these entire stage are feeding with low voltage (80 volts taken from a resistor divider) to have low h...

Re: Chorus 690 clock distorted output, not pulse

Beyond testing components, I’ve also replaced the CD4001, the 2N4124, and the LM324. No difference. I tested the diode, and it tests fine as a diode, but I didn't replace it. Hi Zack, The CD4001 and their related components are arranged as a fixed frequency oscillator and the action of the transist...

Hi howmuch, Thank you very much for the explanation. My native language is Spanish and I do my best effort to participate in the forum, but several details of the English are completely new to me. I appreciate that you have not considered my previous comment as something aggressive  Cheers, Jose

Re: 6V6 Mystery Amp

Hi Soulsonic, Thinking that this amp module belongs to an old record player, perhaps the loudspeaker was of an electrodynamic type wich has a big coil instead an alnico magnet to develop the permanent magnetic field to work. In this case, the current taken from power supply flows trough that coil an...

You're right, but extract signal with the main speaker connected, so the amplifier still work on a reactive load.

Re: 6V6 Mystery Amp

Hi Martin, Are you sure about the continuity of secondaries of the power transformer ? Normally the 6.3v and the 5v for the rectifier heaters are fully isolated to other windings. BTW the tone control are similar to those found in Ampeg amps. The potentiometers must be logarithmic in this controls. ...

Re: Chorus/Flanger, Electronics Today International, Jan 1984

I can't work out how the MN3102 frequency is derived. Hi Mellotron, The MN3102 provide two square waves non overlapped to drive the delay line. The elements that define this clock frequency are (in the diagram you posted): R43, C27 and Q4. The principle to create a chorus or flanger effect is to co...

Maybe it's a JCM900 preamp clone. A JCM900 preamp is worse: have a diode bridge shorted with another diode... :) The assumption that Mr Raunig cloned a Nady TO-2 is due have bass and treble potentiometers. If were another type of preamp using the classical tonestack, why discard to use the mi...

The engraving in the front face of the aluminum box suggest me that this is the pcb layout of this thing... Very defying to draw the schematic from that layout :hmmm: BTW in the second image posted by Modman we can see a couple of green leds (probably wired in anti-parallel) acting as clippers. Prob...

Re: Craig Anderton, Build a Fuzzbox for under $3, Popular Electronics, January 1967

Personally I think that this appliance works well attached to a transistor amp.
Connecting this box from a tube amp to a loudspeaker enclosure can be risky for the output transformer

Hi Mellotron Man and thanks to share your discover with us !!

Just yesterday I found an FTP with lots of schematics (or circuit diagrams  ) http://schems.com/bmampscom/

There are lots of info on FX and most brands of amplifiers.

Enjoy !!!

Re: Buffer adding hisssssssss

Hi Optical,

After implement the RC filter suggested by bajaman, inspect your layout to see if the charge pump is using the same ground tracks of the audio section.

Perhaps the noise you're hearing can be produced from the ground conductors.

If you take the precaution to power on all boxes, racks, processors, etc. prior to turn up the volume on your amp you can avoid the use of this feature.

Re: CE300 CHORUS MUTING QUESTION

Hi Lani,

Q17, Q19 and their associated components acts as a "soft start" time delay to mute temporarily (by means of Q12 and Q16) the outputs after turn on the unit.

This is intended to avoid "pops" until all supplies stabilize.

Hi tarivol, You have made a great sixth post !!! :applause: As you may remember from the Tube Overdrive topic, again the tube is heated directly with 18V...
