Re: Shin-ei - FY-2
I found a thread where someone posted voltages from an original...I had Q1C 3V, Q2C 1.2V.
==================
"I have an original. With a fresh battery that gives a V+ of 9.78VDC, I measured the following:
Q1: E - 0v, B - .59v, C - 3.40v
Q2: E - 0v, B - .55v, C - .9v"

Re: Shin-ei - FY-2
I built a FY2 Clone yesterday and I am not happy with the result soundwise. On General Guitar Gadgets there is a instruction sheet for a FY2 clone that suggests 6.6 Volt on the collector of Q1. On my build there is only 3.2 volt. Regarding there is only a 22k resistor in the circuit between q1 and ...

This is with the 2.2K on Q3? what do you get with the 8.2K back there? you should get around 7.5-8.5Vcopachino wrote:i tried a 33k first but q3 voltages was lower, so i used 47k(stock mkII) and q3 got about 8.5V now,
did Small Bear instructions tell you 4.5V?

at min: Q1:-8.38V Q2:-0.589V Q3:-7.7v at max gain: Q1:-8.38V Q2:-0.4V Q3:-7.73v but im not so sure about Q3, it has already a 2,2Kresistor on it I believe that's the problem. if you alter (lower) the resistor (8.2K) on Q3 collector too much, you will make it more boomy. you can get away with maybe ...

Q1 has a bit different voltages from what you have, also...here's some that EW posted:DrNomis wrote:So apart from that voltage, everything else is okay?.......LucifersTrip wrote:should be ~ 8VDrNomis wrote: Q3, C=6.77V

Re: Shin-ei - FY-2
For those looking for the original, si transistors, heres is my tip: they can be found in old japanese tape decks. I have read some forums where they say the original ones (C536) are buzzier than the common modern variants.. i love vintage stuff, but it's probably another case of mojo deafness...wh...

I'm not sure if Small Bear gives you correct transistors for an authentic MKII. I remember multiple times someone posted that
Q3C voltage hits 4.5V (instead of 7.5V-8.5V+ like originals).
A couple quick searches, I found this one

The hfe's are up there with some Supa Fuzzes reported...and those are some mighty hefty leakages. I have to admit,
out of all the ones I've built, I haven't gone that high.
Killer that it sounds great!

Re: KENT EA-3 FUZZ TONE BENDER
^ looks cool...maybe someone will try it. Since I already have the original sound, I decided to improve my "clone" to my taste. There's one main thing I wanted to do. As I wrote above, the dirty "clean" part of the mix is always WAY up in there. I wanted to be able to knock that ...

Re: Sola Sound - Tonebender Mark II Professional [schematic]
Yeah that is 100k. I may have to try out a 10k resistor there later and see if I like that better. There's no reason to think black and white. Just throw a 100K pot in there temporarily, set it to where you like it & replace with fixed resistor. You probably want to set it to where you have a g...

Re: Sola Sound - Tonebender Mark II Professional [schematic]
Hi i decided I will build my latest oc75/76 tone bender mkii on vero, just like the original. I followed Electric Warriors layout.. EW youre an hero to me.. :horsey: I used 2 x 0.012uF instead of 0.01uF (and 22uF instead of 25uF but i read this doesnt accounts for tone shaping or voicing): what dif...

Yes, a blend control...see my first post. I opened it up, took some gut shots and just finished hand drawing the traced schematic last night. jrod, thanx for posting the Walco scheme... When searching a few days ago I found the DIYSB link from 2006, but the schematic link was dead: https://www.diyst...

Do you have a schematic or gut shot?
