Re: Mad Professor - Snow White Auto Wah [traced]

Does anyone know if there is a way to add a switch to this pedal so the filter closes instead of opens? I love the "wah" tone but I would also like to get the "oye" sound.

Re: suhr backplate silent single coil

This might be a good diy solution for a Les Paul : http://www.ilitchelectronics.com/cvncs-in/ Should be a piece of cake. why it is so expensive surpass my logic any take on the direction of the windings ? does it matter ? The direction of the windings are not important. If you are not getting any h...

Re: suhr backplate silent single coil

I don't think it will work as well on the small round back plate. The idea is to use as large of a surface as possible. You are trying to pick up as much or more hum than the noisy coil in your guitar. The larger the dummy coil the less wire you will need and therefore you minimize the effect the du...

Re: presenting the Schizoid Face

and hey, can someone smarter than me explain why the fuzz pot works and sounds different depending on whether the 22uf cap's cathode is connected directly to ground, or coupled with the 100r resistor? does it make the cap seem bigger maybe due to ESR or something? or is it a low pass filter.. i mea...

Re: presenting the Schizoid Face

Thanks for your response Jimi, and no you certainly do not suck! I would be very interested to see what your thoughts are if you try a 5k6 in place of the 8k2? I do leave the fuzz pot full up on mine and control it from the guitar. I find with the 5k6 the cleans are cleaner but there is a big differ...

Re: presenting the Schizoid Face

Thanks for the cool project! I breadboarded this up with several transistors between the 175 and 225 hfe range. I found that it cleans up good but not great with any of them but the fuzz tone is nice. I have tested all the other components and they are all good. As someone else mentioned a 10k pot i...

Guitar Cable Tester

I recently purchased a programmable looper for my pedal board. This means I had to assemble about 22 patch cables and I wanted to make sure they all worked properly before I installed them. I decided to build a cable tester for the fun of it. This tester can capture very quick open and short circuit...

What method did you use to measure the hfe and how were they as far as leakage goes?

My Google search shows it being NPN silicon which jives with the schematic.
Now I'm a little confused, as I search some more it is showing it to be germanium pnp as well.

For sure, the '7th resistor' goes to the led.
Ah yes, I see that now. I have corrected the image.

I have counted 7 resistors in the photo and only six on the schematic. I marked up the photo to try and account for the missing resistor.

Re: Ramble FX - Marvel Drive 1.0 [traced]

Few mistakes: R17 and 18 are wrong, probably 'cause of copying, they should be 47R and also charge pump schematic is for TC1044 or 7660 not LT1054. If you want to use 1054 you need to lift pin 1. Also your vb and va are connected so decoupling is not existing and also there is no diode protection i...

Re: Ramble FX - Marvel Drive 1.0 [traced]

Using tiagojoy schematic above as reference, the version 2.2 changes are as follows: C17 is now 330pf. The power stage has two LPF stages running in parallel (47R resistor and a 220uf electrolytic cap). One filter feeds the trimpots of 'Normal' and 'Treble' channels; the other the Mu-amp section an...

Nice! I built something similar a few years back. Mine had a variable cap setup on the front end to adjust how much bottom end is let into the circuit and I had a bunch of switchable clipping setups on the back end. The Electra is a great canvas to play with, just ask lovepedal :D .

Re: Zinky - True Grit [traced]

I remember reading an interview with Bruce where he was saying he used dual-ganged potentiometers in his tubes amplifiers as well, because he believed when one section got 'dirty' the other section would still operate smoothly, and you could play it like this for a while before you had to clean the...
