You're right, I completely overlooked the phantom powering :slap:.

Re: K&K - Pure XLR Preamp [traced]

Are you sure about R20/R21? I would rather expect 4,7k, 47k, ... There isn't much to point to having an additional pad at the output with a volume control that goes to zero anyway. It only makes it harder for the 4558 to drive such a low load. I don't know if this is meant to plug into a microphone ...

Not what I would have expected from a company that builds amps on eyelet boards.

Re: Hiwatt Tube Overdrive - gutshots & schematic

Definitely put it in, that's a 10ct part. I have no data to present regarding the actual lifespan of the tube, but for longest life it is simply well established rule to keep the heater voltage within at least +-10% (there are rare exemptions where tubes are underheated for noise reduction for examp...

Re: Hiwatt Tube Overdrive - gutshots & schematic

If you measure 18V on the pins 4 and 5 of the socket, then that's what the tube gets. Really can't believe a tube amp producer like Hiwatt would do that, that's just crazy. The correct dropper resistor would be 39 ohms with 2-3W. Another thought: maybe you got the wrong supply and it is supposed to ...

No, that still works. Like I said, I connected the stock 2PDT switch so that the pedal can still be switched on, it just has no bypass.

Re: Hiwatt Tube Overdrive - gutshots & schematic

Is the tube really heated with 18V? That wouldn't be very healthy for long. Maybe you overlooked a series resistor.

One minor thing: the JFET symbol is turned the wrong way.

Re: How to improve tube amplifier tone by changing one part

Nah, I'm not of the corksniffing type. I've listened to plenty of tests and comparisons in the past. Whenever I did make out differences, they were just that: minute differences, without any clearly preferred choice. I honestly don't care if a certain cap type will give me smoother highs, I have a t...

But unless you roll your own, you're not really taking your toooan seriously though, aren't you? :slap:

Picture with the four is polyester foil, the other two use paper and are drying after dipping in resin.

Wah pressure sensor bypass

The bypass switch in wah pedals always bothered me, so much that I actually barely used it. Having to start and finish in the toe position while firmly pressing down. Then again if the switch actuates too easily you could accidentally switch it off during playing, I just never liked it. So years ago...

EHX - Bad Stone

Just had this here for repair so I thought I'd take a couple of pictures. The wiring was intermittent, somebody messed with the DC jack wiring, and all the dual opamps are switched out and socketed. I have a suspicion the two last issues are related :D. I also fixed the volume drop. Forgot to photog...

There is also a tone control trimmer to adjust the high pass cutoff frequency on the repeats.
It's also marked as offboard wiring in all the layouts.

Re: I've designed a Filter Pedal for Bass

my previous version had in and output caps on the voltage regulator as seen in many of the 780X series datasheets (330nf and 100 nf), but imo theres no difference whatsoever. make sure you use the bigger version and not the 78l06 (those can only go up to 100ma). Im pretty sure you can also use a mo...

Re: I've designed a Filter Pedal for Bass

The IC has a maximum voltage of 9V, so with the typical battery or power supply, some sort of protection or regulation is necessary. A zener would work too, sure. If you go with the regulator, add input and output capacitors, otherwise the regulator is in danger of oscillation. It's interesting how ...

Well, he is only one of the founders of the forum. Also there used to be a couple more moderators when there was way more traffic around here. Considering your long post history... you think your judgment is well placed?

FWIW, Johan didn't read/answer on FB :?.

Re: Mesa Boogie - Throttle Box [schematic]

No, µH again. I used these once for a passive tube EQ, they sold directly from the company. Alternatively, put these two in series ( L1 , L2 ). But they have rather high DC resistance, I would leave out R17. Another option: get this core , wind 270 turns of 0,16mm (34 AWG). Or as Dirk suggested, ask...
