Re: 1981 Inventions DRV [traced]

This circuit definitely looks like it comes from "more is more" philosophy.

Maybe try it with some humbuckers?

Its a "353" ... probably because that's what was used in the "inspiration" pedal. It's a a TL072-workalike.

I think you would also have to increase the 0.22uf coupling cap to Q4 a little. Perhaps use a 0.47 here.

My un-informed gut reaction to seeing the schematic is that by changing the value of C6 you could de-woof your pedal a bit. Just a speculation, of course.

You could also try to change values for C1/R2 combo - to 47nF/220k for example.

Re: McCrypt AT2 Distortion (Krank Maximus style clone) Schem

You can testdrive how the freq. change suits the pedal by simply (temporary) changing the 10k res. in the stack to 1k (parallel something to it f.e. a 1.1k resistor)

The eq curve wont be ideal, but massaging the eq usually takes time.

Re: McCrypt AT2 Distortion (Krank Maximus style clone) Schem

Theres a slight contradiction in "mid-notch filter" and "center frequency about 100Hz".

As I suggested for this style pedals imho it would be worth upping the "mid-notch" to somewhere around 330-350Hz. But hey...

Re: McCrypt AT2 Distortion (Krank Maximus style clone) Schem

Man, that "tone" section just dosen't make any sense to me. From a quick calc, it seems that the scoop is centered around 110Hz (slightly bellow actually), which is rather low imho. If you replace that 100nF cap with a 22nF; and the 10K resistor with a 4K7; you should get more in the 340Hz...

Re: Friedman BE-OD Pedal [traced]

@bajamon: are you absolutely totally sure you applied the "DIY-er correct" methodology in simulations? Perhaps I'm mistaking, but (to me) it seems that you are comparing TWO pn drops (i.e. 4x1N4148 scenario) versus ONE pn drop (fat transistor b-e junction). My ghetto solution (but I could ...

Re: Friedman BE-OD Pedal [traced]

Reading on ZTX these seem to be optimised for low saturation voltage switching application, so what you're saying makes perfect sense. (I think MPSA06 are used in tube amps???) But while you are at simulation, I think you can shoehorn a close-enough characteristic (for DIYers) juggling the resistor ...

Re: AMT Slap Bass (Provisional Schematic) [schematic]

If U1A pin2-pin1 are shorted, then it's a buffer - and the only logical conclusion in this case would be that they use a similar "deep notch" as SansAmps do in some of their "other" pedals (the misterious caps and resistors hanging off the U1A).

Re: AMT Slap Bass (Provisional Schematic) [schematic]

Imho you have the R3 placed wrong. It should go right from U1A pin1 to U1A pin2. And consequently the C13 should connect directly to U1A pin2 (now junction pin2, R3 and C13). It looks like a fixed souped-up mid-boost section. (perhaps as you mention this is intended for some "other" type o...
