Re: GONICH - a simple (Arduino) digital pedal switcher!
That sounds wrong, you probably applied excess voltage on the relay coil or something like that. Non latching relays are used everywhere, even more than latching, and I can't see why they would overheat (other than being driven with higher current), since the coil is essentially just a coil of wire ...

Re: Surface mount components
There are 3 most popular packages:
1206 - piece of cake - stick to this for the beginning
0805 - little more difficult
0603 - most difficult, really the tiniest package you can hand-solder

Re: RnFR- The Toecutter
Damn! Yeah, i totally messed up the BOM. I'll fix that. The drawn schem is correct (I only used 560R instead of 540R, and it's drawn differently) Meanwhile, I tried using: GT308V 1T308B 2N5401(Si-PNP) They all work if you get the right gain, Q1 and Q2 under 100, Q3 above 100. In the end, I settled o...

yeah here's their wiki
http://wiki.altium.com/display/ADOH/Tut ... PCB+Design
i think there are tutorials on youtube.
But I must admit, it is a difficult program to master. Give Diptrace a try - everything is easy and logical

Re: RnFR- The Toecutter
Hi guys! Long time lurker here! Finally built this monster, it has this heavy like an elephant on top of a crumbling mountain sound!!! Built my own layout, will post it here as soon as I put it into pdf. Since I don't have GT313s around, I tried a bunch of random GE transisors. Didn't test them for ...

Re: Preferred PCB design software
Eagle's ability to show unconnected wires with airwires is pretty goddamn amazing. I use to get terrible layouts in DIYLC all the time. I really admire all the people that use DIYLC.. They must have nerves of steel, constantly worrying about connecting components. I draw my schematic, and the progr...
