Re: Univox - Superfuzz [schematic]

Did you make sure the 2C828 are all on the correct BEC side? That is the only thing I can think of. Do you have the voltage readings on all of them?

Re: Univox - Superfuzz [schematic]

I didn't get any oscillations with my build. Which NPN trannys are you using?

Re: Univox - Superfuzz [schematic]

Derringer, I am using IVIark's layout just because it fits better in my enclosure and because I had the right vero size.
Other than that I think your modifications hugely contribute to the versatility and usability of this beast.

Thanks again.

Re: Univox - Superfuzz [schematic]

man ... I never noticed the discrepancy. Good eye. It should be 56nF as per the schematic and not the vero picture. The original uses 100nF and that produced too much scoop to my ears. One could easily wire a switch to vary between 56nf and 100nf caps. The scoop control does give you the "notc...

Re: Univox - Superfuzz - Question for Derringer on his mods [schematic]

I think the 1N34A diodes - or the OA-90s - weaken this pedal's sound when they are direct to ground; the AMZ warp mod - placing a 10 K pot between diodes & ground - seems a key to getting both better volume & fuzz texture. I've tried the stock configuration, & it does come off as way to...

Re: Rig a Fuzz-Tone FZ-1A for external power?

I am also here on the same mission: I built my own version of a Maestro Fuzz Tone based on the FZ-1 and FZ-1A. It is a mixture between the two and : 1. it's PNP Germanium with positive ground 2. Uses 1.5V with a single AA battery. I would like to use my regular -9V charge pump and to reduce the volt...

Re: re-worked tonebender hybrid

I have built the silicon bender a few times on a breadboard and have NEVER got it working as it should. gating and stuff always there. I did try to reverse the diode and still the same. also the corrections jimi added, I think, are backwards in my circuit on the VOL and TONE. Would anybody please he...

Re: Maestro - FZ-1 [schematic]

well, this certainly looks like a 470k resistor. Thanks man, I just finished breadboarding this circuit with trimmers on all 10k resistors and also a 20k on the 1.5k. I did get a nasty buzz distortion which means I am in the right direction. I used some leaky AC128 trannies. the fuzz pot still doesn...

Re: Maestro FZ-1 on Turret Board!

HI everybody, reading the remarks on Glen's original patent states that the "missing" 470k resistor is actually a 470 Ohm resistor used for avoiding temperature problems on Q2. can anyone verify that? 470R or 470K. the drawing in the patent designates this resistor as numbered 261 (probabl...
