Re: Ibanez - UE400 and UE405 [schematic]
I actually modded one of mine using a ribbon cable soldered to the inside of the connector and brought out to a 5 position dip switch.

Sorry, I haven't been back to this thread in a long time, @zsetlan. You could try and solder directly to the pins then shrink wrap them to keep them from shorting out...

Re: Prescription Electronics - Experience Octave Fuzz
It appears that PE is back in business, although it's not clear WHO is involved. Terry, from MusicToyz owns the website although Jack is name-checked on the home page: https://prescriptionpedals.com At $400 the Experience pedal seems to be WELL overpriced, but I'm guessing they're comparing it to $1...

Re: Ctech - Sonny Boy
Yeah, knowing it existed and ever having seen one are very different. There's none for sale, no links except for one review on Harmony Central from years ago. It's kind of a ghost! Anyway, here's the best I can do with the components. A couple of problems came up: 1. No markings I can see on the sma...

Promise I'll get to the cap values!
I've never even heard of the Red Rooster! I wonder how many of those they made?

Ctech - Sonny Boy
This is a strange one from the 90s. It appears to be a similar concept to the Sansamp Classic, using multiple op-amps and transistors to "model" amp sounds. Unlike the Sansamp the sounds are labeled by the songs they're supposed to be like. Since none of them are really clean, think of the...

Renaissance Guitars
Here's the sad story of an innovative and interesting experiment in guitar building in the late 70s: https://www.vintageguitar.com/3810/renaissance-t-200g/ Somehow, in nearly 30 years of collecting I've never seen or heard of them before. Anyway, the FSB related thing is that it's a defeatable activ...

Re: Antelope Effects - Morning Dew EQ [traced]
The PEQ401, followed by the PQ9 were pedals with fixed high and low EQ bands and a semi-parametric mid with frequency and gain but fixed Q. The Fromel Shape is a fairly close copy with some updates (mid band can be peaking or shelving, true bypass or buffered bypass). The MDEQ is supposed to be the ...

4 knob, transparent overdrive... Sounded like a clone until I saw this gut shot: two op-amps?

Re: Mr. Black Shepards End Infinite Flanger
Your comment on my other thread about using two BBDs to produce a Shepard effect I'm assuming was research for this project, since the finished product is Spin vs BBDs? (I'm sure it's more cost effective this way). Do you mind revealing how many "voices" if I may put it this way the Shepar...

ToneCzar VFM Loop/Amp Mixer/Crossfader
This looks like a really well thought out idea for someone with a complex rig (Eric Johnson, you gotta get one!): http://toneczar.com/pedals-vfm.htm Looks like a pair of buffered effects loops you can pan between or crossfade, with the ability to send the signal to different amps or a mixed output t...

Cool, I'll check that out. There's a surprising lack of information about these amps on the net-a few schematics, a few gut shots but not nearly as much as one would expect given how influential they were…

Re: Orange OD80 Scratch-ish build
Gorgeous builds, Tony. Is there any simple way to determine which style of PI one has? I have an OR80 from 72 incoming, so I suspect the later kind but I'm not sure… Also have a friend with an ORS50, whatever that is, that predates the OR80 and he's not sure about it either.

Re: Orange Amps History
In the end I found an OR80 combo from 72. I'll post pics when it arrives. No speakers, but since it's marginal with anything available at the time (80w into a pair of G12H30s?) I might go with Weber Thames with the neo magnets for a little more manageable weight. The combo cab itself is surprisingly...

Orange Amps History
Orange have always been a bit of a cipher. The fact that a few people were involved in the development, that there weren't nearly as many built as Marshall but with more variety and development than say Watkins or Vox has made understanding the models and dating them pretty hard. They also used at l...

Re: Bearfoot Model G [traced]
To be fair, the EGDM is billed as an overdrive fuzz, and yeah, it's discrete transistors rather than an op amp.

Re: Bearfoot Model G [traced]
I may be out to lunch here, but it looks to me like all the Bearfoot overdrives (and by extension, the BJFE and Mad Professor versions) consist of variations on the basic Rat circuit with a soft clipping circuit in the first op-amp stage and some form of clipping to ground between op amp stages. The...
