Re: K&K Trinity Preamp [traced]
Hi, thank you for your layout. i Have two questions. What diode you have used? and what is the green component close tu taht diode? I would bet the green component is a 0r resistor - or a jumper - whichever you prefer. If you look at the layout it just continues the connection over two pads. No gue...

Re: Awesome tube preamp project: Top Drive
That being said.... Here it is. One of my oldest boards...and what I believe is only the second assembled...operational (the first being the prototype).... Top Drive Pre-Amp I opted to not mount the transformer on the board - I went "wall wart" style. http://pws.cablespeed.com/~danielzink/...

Re: Awesome tube preamp project: Top Drive
Okay. I've had a success !! It seems that all of my problems are stemming from the "JR1" switch (the FET Boost switch that Chris Moir had wired into an XLR) http://pws.cablespeed.com/~danielzink/musical/Top%20Drive/td19.jpg http://pws.cablespeed.com/~danielzink/musical/Top%20Drive/td20.jpg...

Re: Awesome tube preamp project: Top Drive
I'm going to order a pair of 12AU7's and go from there.
I'll post back in a few days and update.
I know it "shouldn't" make that much difference - but you never know.

Re: Awesome tube preamp project: Top Drive
Hi Daniel, My best guess is that you -inadvertently- has a connection crossed from PCB to tube sockets. Try to check if the bundle of violet and green wires are soldered to the same pin number at each socket. All connections checked with *no* tubes in...triple checked - all connections correct Also...

Re: Awesome tube preamp project: Top Drive
Hi Dan, You're right: 12AX7 and 12AU7 has the same pinout, so both types can be employed in this project but with sonically differences. I forgot to say that the numbering of a tube pins is viewed from bottom and counting clockwise. It's OK to have 0 volts at pins 2 and 7 in each tube, but 0 volts ...

Re: Awesome tube preamp project: Top Drive
The tubes heaters are glowing and the tubes warm up. I'm using 12ax7's right now rather than the au7's as spec'd Gino said that shouldn't affect it to the point that there's no sound. Upon turning on the circuit - the power LED makes a "momentary" flash - then nothing. Fet boost LED is ope...

Re: Awesome tube preamp project: Top Drive
As a side note. I did build up one of my boards and no bueno. It passes signal through the fet boost portion of the board but nothing through the tube section itself. Every component value verified - all solder connections verified and checked for bridges etc. I've tried to contact Chris Moir via FB...

Re: Awesome tube preamp project: Top Drive
I also took a chance and sent an email to Gino asking questions.. His reply was interesting... Hey Dan, Yeah, I did the layout for the Top Drive way back in the day. Attached are all of the files I have. As far as I know nobody, including the original designer, has actually built and tested one of t...

Re: Awesome tube preamp project: Top Drive
Dang it.... That wasn't the adapter I wanted to link to lol... I was trying to link to a 115v ac to 12v ac adapter.... But those seem to in short supply.... Re: Awesome tube preamp project: Top Drive
I've got one of these on my bench right now 85% built... I'm struggling with space issues and the transformer. I can make it work...but... Seeing as the transformer spec'd is a 110v ac to 12v ac... Is there a reason the board couldn't be powered with something like this ? : https://www.amazon.com/Ad...

Varitone...as master tone ?
Looking for pointers as to whether folks think this'll work... It's a mashup of a couple different ideas... I have an Epiphone Wildkat hanging around...decent enough guitar...but the sound is very lackluster and pretty dark... http://pws.cablespeed.com/~danielzink/musical/guitars/wildkat.jpg I'm ord...

Looking for the pot pcb (or pics/layout) from a Rotovibe
Title pretty much says it all. I got this Rotovibe cheap in a parts lot. It's missing the pot/switch/leds and board. I'm wondering if anyone has one of these laying around that they could take some pics of (front and back of pot pcb) so I could fab something up and at least see if the pedal fires up...

Okay. I re-did this and I added onboard 18V. Anyone care to look it over and let me know if I'm making any grievous mistakes. This is my first real shot at adding something like onboard voltage conversion... Thanks ! Dan Are you sure you need this charge pump? I've tried to run this circuit at diff...
