Re: Interfax - Harmonic Percolator [schematic]

pinkjimiphoton, good stuff! I always love when people come up with new ideas rather than being stuck on old ones. As much as it's tempting to chase the originals in this case. But you never know when your new idea might be the next big thing!

Re: new/fresh gutshots of original interfax harmonic percolator [schematic]

I saw these, the schematics on the internet are totally wrong, as expected. Transistors are still unknown, they appear to be 2 of the same, not 2 different as suggested by others. The resistor values are wrong in others, and there is a diode missing. Hopefully the volume control is 100K, can't see ...

Thanks in advance :-)
I built the GuitarPCB version and it sounds good to me. Didn't sound f@#)&d up, sounded about right from the first play.

Re: Cornish G2 - Guts, Schematic, Layout (from Tracer's Fund [traced]

Mine has the buffer.

The pedal is un-usable if built to the suggested "trace."

We can argue about it all day but it simply doesn't sound right. In fact, very wrong.

I was getting ready to throw it in the trash before I decided to tweak the caps. Now it sounds great.

Re: Cornish G2 - Guts, Schematic, Layout (from Tracer's Fund [traced]

There's just no way those caps could be right in my build. The pedal sounded broken. I am using the correct pot values.

Even 20 minutes on YouTube looking at real G2 will show you they don't sound like "that."

Re: Cornish G2 - Guts, Schematic, Layout (from Tracer's Fund [traced]

I wrote a post about my findings with the DIY G2 circuit. In my opinion there are a number of common problems.

Rather than re-type I will just link to it here:

Re: Cornish G2 - Guts, Schematic, Layout (from Tracer's Fund [traced]

Sorry I put an extra zero in there. Diodes vary, but my 1N695 measure around .27 to .29 V on the diode tester on my multimeter.

Re: Cornish G2 - Guts, Schematic, Layout (from Tracer's Fund [traced]

I settled on some 1N695 NOS diodes in my G-2 build. Same as "Harmonic Percolator" apparently. Sounds really nice, and better than some other options I tried. forward voltage is a little higher, maybe .0268V or something. So I guess that's a tiny bit more gain, and maybe a tiny less treble....

Re: Emerson Custom Guitars E-M Drive. [traced]

2N5088 works for me. MPSA18 did not work at all.

I think I might add a 47 uF filter cap since I'm so averse to hiss and noise when I box it up.

Using Iviark mojo layout. PIO caps and all. I love those fukkin thangs.

Hi Bjorn thanks for the reply! I built a modified version of your Snow White wah with a few little mods here and there, and this is for personal use only, I will never sell it, it's an incredible circuit. I called it the "Player White Wah" I got a little bit faster attack with a diode swap...

Re: Bare Bone Klone (no charge pump)

what is the purpose of the 12 volt Zener diode in the power supply on this schematic? I've built one like this and any time I raise the gain on the second op amp above the 68K resistor in this schematic, I risk the "motor boat" effect, sounds like a tremolo. Even raising the feedback resis...

Re: Skreddy - Mayo

check for shorts on the board or any exposed wires, even tiny fibers or tiny dabs of solder can create a short. make sure the board and the soldering are really clean. Look really closely when inspecting, maybe with magnification.

Re: Cornish Bypass buffer [traced]

Just use one of the verified layouts. They're a little different for some reason, maybe traced from different pedals?

I bet BC239c would work just fine
