Re: Fromel - Death is Gain
Quick question? if you don't like how it sounds, why bother tracing it? The schem you posted in not correct anyhow, the clipping section and the tone control are not right. The current version is SMD built by a robot right here in Seattle. If I can figure out how to post pics I will put up the corre...

Re: Dynacomp rev F2 Gut shots
Had one of these in my shop tonight and did a bit of tweaking on it. There was some noteable noise and some icepick going on. The customer wanted a lower noise floor and less harsh top end response, and left any mod choices up to me. He had picked it up for $20 used - not bad. This was the first tim...

Re: Ohnoho Utter Stutter
I created a board layout for a modified tremulus lune with added LFO with space for send/return for a feedback loop, also added a filter cap and protection diode to the power rail. I credited Dann with the schem and sited his license as non-commercial use only. If 4ms or Dan have any problem with th...

Re: Ohnoho Utter Stutter
So i spent a bit on a diy layout, it should be about 99% done. if somebody wants to double check it and maybe clean it up a bit, please feel free. I didn't have a file for the opto, so it just has solder pads and no part. also there aren't any resistor values and the cap values are educated guesses...

Re: Ohnoho Utter Stutter
I really 'd like to build this pedal but I'm not able to dissect all the circuit... Can anybody help me by drawing the schematics on the basis of the pics I've taken ? Tx No need to dissect this circuit. You could do much better. Use any optical trem circuit. Tremulus Lune is good; also I have a DI...

Re: Ohnoho Utter Stutter
So is this thread abount the circuit analysis of the OhNoHo Utter Stutter or a discussion on Perf Board? If its the former I could contribute, if it's the latter I have nothing to say.
BTW I have an Utter Stutter here at the shop, the 555 timer makes a pretty anoying click

Using A Tapering Resistor to Get Reverse Log Pot
Ah I spoke too soon. To replicate a reverse audio voltage divider you need to use a tapering resistor that is 20% of the larger value running in parallel. Read this: http://www.geofex.com/article_folders/potsecrets/potscret.htm and this: https://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=70732....

Re: Baldwin-Burns - Buzzaround [schematic]
Thanks, Brad! I popped in a C100K for the sustain control and it seems like a BIG improvement. Lots more fun, interactive variations, though I could only play for a few seconds (I'll try again tomorrow). I tried that 180K-resistor-on-a-250KB-pot trick too. Not precisely the same result (I preferred...

Re: 1967(?) Fuzz Face insides.
Had this one in my shop recently, it sounded divine. Hated to give it back to the customer. The 100K resistor and footswitch were not original, everything else was the real deal. https://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc43/jfromel/DSC_0795.jpg https://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc43/jfromel/DSC_0797.j...

Re: Catalinbread - The Silver Kiss
I have two of the early ones and they both sound totally different, both great but different, very under rated pedal. IIRC the ones I have are built on perf board or perhaps a self etched PCB, haven't opened either of them up for a while.

Re: BJF - Honey Bee Overdrive degooped [traced]
c'mon... he's using AVX caps in newer ones... I don't think the type of components used are really a big consideration except in the broadest sense of using certain types. The clever part of the circuit is the use of feedback to keep the gain under control. It's all about controlling the signal to ...

Re: BJF - Honey Bee Overdrive degooped [traced]
I think PaulC really nailed this. How the hell do you get a rat to sound like that? How many different kinds of resistors are in there? Is the Honey Bee an extra parts clean out see what we can make today? Oh Shit this sounds good I should make a couple more. Or did Bjorn say in this signal path I c...
