Re: Schumann PLL [traced]

The schemo is in the DEFX build doc, here; https://drive.google.com/file/d/1UoN1kGc04fDdSNSP3lPHdxLoPjqy5LX_/view As for the arpeggiator, I used an EHX 8 Step for the CV steps. There is a DEFX mod doc for that to make it work better with the PLL, here; https://drive.google.com/file/d/14QgZirwIx62Llq...

Re: LAL GM2 Green Monster (Lastgasp Art Laboratories) [traced]

That is very creative, and also a potential headache for someone looking to repair one of these products, unless a service manual is available (probably not). Also, it adds no value to the product, so yeah, idiotic. I prefer that to gooping. At least you can still get at it with a multimeter. Besid...

Re: LAL GMR Gomorrah (Lastgasp Art Laboratories)

While all the transistors are the same, I did some experimentation with different transistors when doing the validation build. I found that Q2 can really define the sub octave performance. In the end, I found that using a lower gain transistor in Q2 gave better performance in tracking and sound. I u...

Re: LAL GM2 Green Monster (Lastgasp Art Laboratories) [traced]

Please note that the resistor that is 47R is actually 470K. If you look closely at the picture of the resistor, you can see that the black band has been deceptively hand painted. Not only are the edges not crisp, but you can see the yellow bleeding through. Besides... there's no way you'll get enoug...

Re: Snarling dogs - Mold spore

Hi everyone, I know this is an old post but I hope someone here can help. Same old story here folks. I have the mold spore wah, ring mod side is non functional. It is most likely the Max 1044 chip. Now... how do I replace this chip? Does it require any soldering? Does the chip just pop out and a ne...

Re: Univox - Superfuzz [schematic]

The 3046 transistor array was hit or miss. I tested a few that were in the low 40's for gain - that's too low for the Superfuzz and it doesn't sound right. If you know the transistors are in the 60-100 range then it'll work, but it's not necessarily a drop-in solution. The best array results that I...

Re: Univox - Superfuzz [schematic]

2N3904 tend to be too hot. 2N2222 works better. Gains in the 150 to 180 range, with Q4 and Q5 matched. If you can find 2N2219's, even better.

Synthi Hi Fli

Well, The Freak lives. We'll have all the schematics, BOM's, build doc, blablabla and boards up at DEFX in a few weeks. We had some minor fuck ups to fix on the initial run of boards. Otherwise, works as it should. http://i.postimg.cc/Pqx0ymBp/58378832-444862626283702-8641187042333556736-n.jpg http:...

Right on!! Thanks!

Just for your own fun, you can really play around with all the input caps, make it as tame or sludgy as you wish. Lots of fun.

Re: Rams Head Big Muff 2N5133, FS36999 hFE notes

Insofar as array chips are concerned, MPQ2222 are my preferred. This applies not only to BMP's, but Superfuzz as well (with a 2N2913 in the octave section). Consistently within a 150 to 200 gain range, they do a wonderful job of pushing the amp without being obnoxious. If I want a Muff that's loud, ...

Re: KORG - FK-2 Mr. Multi Phase - Wah - Double Wah [schematic]

Phaser quality really depends on jfet selection. The tighter you can group the jfet's, the better the phaser will sound.

My first time around, I just threw a set of random jfet's in there, and it sounded like oatmeal.

Re: Way Huge - Purple Platypus [traced]

Been on the breadboard for a while now, and I'm pretty happy with it. Added my own tweaks; octave on/off (with LED), octave intensity control, and Mill 2 bypass. I upped the base gain resistor to 68K because I was getting a bit of a step in the gain at the low end of the pot. 68K smoothed that right...
