Re: Redwitch - Fuzzgod

Thanks Devtron. Why on earth would you not put those transistors flush with the board? because they're most probably Germanuim transistors and he doesn't want to kill them with the heat from the soldering process.... there's a Si transistor in there also which reminds me a lot of the Fuzz Factory d...

Re: Catalinbread Merkin Fuzz [traced]

i modified salocin's schem with corrections and a non-overlapping circuit, not to stir the "overlapping-circuitry/double-sided-pcb/jumpers" debate :D

(hope it's all right with him) :)

Re: Catalinbread Merkin Fuzz [traced]

on both second and third veros, Q2 and Q3s caps to ground are 47uF and Q1s is 10uF electros

edit: on the second vero the caps are ok, it's Q1 and Q2 are labeled wrong, it's the opposite (just a detail) :)

Re: Catalinbread Merkin Fuzz [traced]

I went over the screenshots and drew up a quick schematic. I got the same result as Salocin except the 47uF filter cap, and I have the Texture pot reversed. It looks to me the 2n2 cap goes to lug 1 of the Texture pot, not lug 3 (or I may be cross-eyed). you're right, i had the same results after ch...

Re: Catalinbread Merkin Fuzz [traced]

I don't realy what to bash anybody at CB nor do I want to be a dick head. But man? A double layour pcb for that? This could be easily done even by me on a single sided pcb and it what even have or more "esthetic look" and I'm only a rookie with no electronical education background...

Re: Catalinbread Merkin Fuzz [traced]

the texture knob arrow is the other way, when maxed the wiper is connected to the .0047uF Ok, that will be quick fix. I'll gonna correct it tomorrow as I'm running out of time now - have some BBQ to prepare.:) Edit: I also might put the trannys the wrong way in. But for my personal use it doesn't m...

Re: Catalinbread Merkin Fuzz [traced]

the texture knob arrow is the other way, when maxed the wiper is connected to the .0047uF (invert the lugs 1 and 3 on the vero), for the schem i've checked it with my pedal and except for the texture pot direction, it seems to be ok

Re: Catalinbread Merkin Fuzz [traced]

Interesting! Help me out here. It looks like that Texture control is a hybrid gain/tone control. On one side of the sweep you'd get all the output from Q2 and more bass, and on the other side you'd almost totally bypass Q2 and have more low end rolled off from the smaller coupling cap (2n2 vs 47n)....

Re: Catalinbread Merkin Fuzz [traced]

oups, you're rite , they're 2N2222A (on the transistor it's written on two lines) something like that: .P2N2 222A two more details, i've check the board outside (daylight is better than houselights) and the resistor i wasn't sure is indeed a 47k, the purple line had a different tint to it and on the...

Catalinbread - Merkin Fuzz [traced]

Here are pics of the Merkin Fuzz to get the ball rolling, i really like this fuzz, specially the texture knob, it really dials all typical fuzz sounds, from farty gated sounds to really high gain FF/Fuzzrite or even muff type sounds without the sustain, here's some info: three 2N222A transistors inp...

there's a mistake in that.... After the 180k (R4) there's a 100k between it and the 1M Pot/C2. My bad!!
why put two resistors in a row instead of a bigger one?

Re: D*A*M - Sonic Titan ( DAM ) [traced]

sorry i couldn't edit the previous post, after tweaking with this pedal i've discovered that raising the 2N3819s voltage to 7.20V give a lot more clean range while maintaining a lot of distortion when maxxed, i could change the trimpot to a fixed 1k resistor to have the same results, it's a lot more...

Re: D*A*M - Sonic Titan ( DAM ) [traced]

just made one, sounds great but i wish the drive set at minimum would give a cleaner boost, it's quite ovedriven at min drive and after 50% rotation of the drive knob it doesn't change much, is the secret for this thing the trimmer on the jfet? what would be the voltage for a cleaner drive range? i ...

Re: D*A*M - Meathead [traced]

on a side note, the fuzz pot is pretty useless on that design, it's usable in the last 10% rotation, before that it becomes gated and farty... BUT putting a WSTC on that pedal works really great to tame the high end fizziness... i used a A-100k for the volume and a B-20k for the tone (with a 680 Ohm...

Re: D*A*M - Meathead [traced]

i'm surprised the cap to Q2 is 22uF on the Deluxe schematic, it is 10uF on all other Meathead schem i've seen, is that a verified value with a real Deluxe pedal?

and a lot of Placebo guitar riffs with "EHX Hot Tubes" keyword..lol guess he used one
