Re: Craig Anderton Clarifier Preamp

This is how I connected it : from output Pickups to input clarifier and then output to output guitar. So it functions as my tonecontrol. It gives you a low impedance out. It even works to drive the poweramp ( El84) of my small 15 watt diy amp and is incredibly silent then . This works great for reco...

Re: Craig Anderton Clarifier Preamp

Unless I'm missing something this circuit No WoRk as shown. Phil. You must be right of course but the strange thing is it has been functioning for years in my Les Paul. Must take it out tomorrow then ! [img] [IMG]https://img638.imageshack.us/img638/1429/clarifieringuitar001s.jpg[/img] Upl...

You made another mistake imho. Go over the circuit very closely again .

Re: Craig Anderton Clarifier Preamp

Years ago I made a couple and ceramic caps were fine for me.

V+ and V- are there because I used two batteries for maximum headroom.

Re: Diamond - Compressor [new gut shots added] [traced]

I was having a look at the TC Sustain the other day, and was considering designing a PCB and vero layout for it,
Please do Mictester ! I have been wanting to build this one for years but haven't got the time unfortunately.

Would be great if you could post it here !

Looks very much like a Guyatone . Don't use the Atlas oil caps anymore, they're all leaky .

That blue pot is is Bourns , conductive plastic , but probably linear taper.

Re: Yamaha-CO-01 compressor [schematic]

I used to have one of those , quite good more headroom than the Dynacomp which couldn't take a hot signal very well.

Re: Hughes & Kettner - Rotosphere [schematic]

No , it's not very noisy but a bit too much to my liking. But I do like its sound especially the point where the brake starts to kick in or when it accelerates. One of my favourite songs to play with it is "rocky mountain way" with a nice grinding distortion that's where it can really shine.

Re: Hughes & Kettner - Rotosphere [schematic]

I think it's much too complicated to clone imho , just buy a secondhand one. I have one, it's a favourite but what I would like is a better signal to noise ratio. It should have a separate inputlevel and outputlevel.

And changing the tube is a bitch !

But remember it's just an endorsement , it doesn't make you play and sound like him straight away.
Practising is what you need or maybe one of those talent boosters.

This isn't meant personally :D

Re: Diaz Amps

Try using 12AU7's in V1 instead of 12AX7's really turns the gain down
Yeah but this could be a bit too much , I would suggest 5751 tubes as V1 . Great tubes for this position if you don't want to go too low in gain.

Re: New Vibrato idea

What kind of waveform is suitable for a vibrato
What I like best is the sinus wave !! for a very smooth tremelo but I hardly ever see it used. Mostly it's triangle or square wave for a choppy trem.

For beautiful oldfashioned tremelo use the sinus !

Re: Let's have a chat about Silicon clipping diodes

I do not think a diode can sound "smooth and dynamic".
+1

I wouldn't call a voltage swing between 0 and 0.5 volts dynamic.

Re: Aria-Super Sustainer- RE-101 [schematic]

If I spot it correctly there's an opto coupler so it must be a compressor. So not a dynacomp design. What's written on the opamp ?
