An old Chrysler starter solenoid would be easier to take apart.

Contrary to Ferric Chloride use can dispose this after dilluting with plenty water. A little known but easily verifiable fact is that the majority of Ferric Chloride (AKA Iron Chloride) is used in drinking water and waste water treatment. http://www.americanchemistry.com/s_chlorine/science_sec.asp?...

Thanks for the links!
:P just looking at all that math gives me a headache

Your design Looks interesting, I don't know enough to say it will work for sure, however it looks to me like the tone stack would need to conect at pin 3 as well. Then just make the intensity pot a variable resistor.

Re: Tremolo in small SE amps ?

The VibroChamp is a bit different than the common Phase Shift Oscillator. The way it's drawn on the factory schematic sucks so I redrew it.

Thanks! Interesting read :D
There is some ballast info in my technical book but nothing close to this one. Maybe my book is to new

Seems rare as no info is available. Wonder if one of the tube museums or a collector would want it?

Lamp; Sylvania MX-408 / U

At least I think it's a lamp. Has 2 small filaments and I lit it up (dimly) with 24vac 3, 6, 9 or 12 wouldn't light it at all. It has a Octal base is GT size and has pins at 1,2,3,5,7 and 8. Pins 2 & 7 have 12.5 ohm resistance and those light it but none of the other pins have any continuity. I ...

RCA CA741** RCA was bought sold merged morphed (whatever) into Harris.
Harris used both part numbers CA741** and LM741**
Harris was bought sold merged morphed (whatever) into Intersil, Intersil used LM741**.

Re: Connections, cables, switches

You could replace the stomp switch with a relay, then you could use an spst to make / break power to the relays coil.
Like this one maybe http://www.mouser.com/Search/ProductDet ... a64g%3d%3d

Thank You!

IMO posting links to the pics is best.

Just curious... is the stomp switch the only thing holding the board in palce? Also, what’s on the underside to keep it from shorting to the case?

Re: Hohner "Valve Overdrive" gutshots [schematic]

Nice pics! If you are lucky the only reason it doesn't work is because the switch was removed and no one jumpered the connections. Not uncommon to see missing componets on a board. Maybe they originaly had a buffer or? They also could have used the same board for more than 1 effect. Only thing missi...
