Re: How to improve tube amplifier tone by changing one part

See, I think the secret of vintage tube amp tone lies in the mains cable! I just swapped the cord on an Epiphone Valve Junior with a Black Rhodium Fusion and the difference is DRAMATIC: - sound is overall more focused and Hi-Fi - warm, haunting mids - fragile harmonics survive better Are you going ...

Re: How to improve tube amplifier tone by changing one part

I've noticed the same thing as Bajaman, and it's a dramatic difference. I was a non-believer and used yellow Sozo caps just for the glamour gut shot, but the change in sound was just like how Bajaman described - more focused and '3D.' Now I swear by them. They've always measured within 2% on my capa...

Re: Please help reduce boost pedal volume. [SOLVED]

This is very tough without know what effect this is or a look at the schematic. My guess is this is a single-transistor boost and the 1K potentiometer adjusts the resistance on the source of a FET. If that's the case, you could try replacing the potentiometer with a 5K.

Re: Jfet design questions

Wow man, I never saw anything like this in Jfet pedal design. My Shizzle Deluxe Fuzz/Overdrive uses this technique for the JFET input stage. In this case, the bias isn't adjustable, because it consistently gives the right biasing with these values with this transistor... You will also see this in s...

Looks entirely plausible to me. Missing the value on the source resistor on the second MuAmp.

TS circuit into eq gyrator stages. switch changes diodes from sym to assym. fizziness: opamp choice, layout control (believe it or not, it DOES make a difference...), and little bigger cap in first gain stage. So it seems... green TS with mod and EQ and "Wampler magic spice". Product desc...

Re: Analog Spring Reverb Box

Good point, phatt. It was kind of a pain getting it to bias correctly and I wish I'd socketed those resistors from the start. I can confirm it sounds amazing when it's set up correctly. One of the attractive things about it to be was that it doesn't require a transformer since I was trying to save s...

Here the corrected schematic.

Yes someone just pointed out the 22n, this corrects it and shaves off a column. I've got this thing working. One other thing: The Source of Q4 needs to be grounded - meaning another cut to separate the drain of q5 & source of q4. It's a pretty good sounding effect. http://cl.ly/image/2R1b2n3K0e...

Re: Ramble FX Marvel Drive 1.0 [Schematic Inside] [traced]

I redrew for clarity. Looks pretty reasonable. The only thing I see as weird are the parallel 220uF & 100uF caps on the source of the 'normal' j201 input.

Shared project - Ant driver buffer in a cable

The Ant Driver is an SMD opamp buffer that fits in a 1/4" jack on your guitar cable. The general idea is to buffer the signal right as it comes out of the guitar to get a strong, low-impedance signal through that first run of cable. It's powered by using a mic (2-conductor) cable that takes the...
