Re: Death by Audio - Fuzz War [traced]

After 14 years I finally built this! I got lucky and it fired right up. I swaped out the 2N5088s I had in there and tried some higher gain 2N5089s which did not work as I just got a hard gated sound out. I breadboarded the first stage and measured the emitter (Output) voltage. Non working transistor...

Re: REQ: Basic Audio Scarab Deluxe [traced]

Ok, I see it now. Paralleling the pot changes the taper as well.
Cheaper to use a 50KB pot rather than a 10KC...
The 10k resistor is only a couple cents. A 10KC pot is $1.50 or so.

The 10k/.1/2k2 is the low pass filter. The 50k pot pans between a low pass and tone network bypass (for the most part)
Imagine the big muff tone network with only the low pass side.

Re: REQ: Basic Audio Scarab Deluxe [traced]

1uf might be enough for you. The cap stores energy as well as passes signal at all frequencies.
I like the sloppiness of 10uf. My goal is to make it as tight and responsive with the .01 and then sloppy
with the 10uf. So you set the FAT knob as you like. 10uf has a good bit of thump to it...

Re: REQ: Basic Audio Scarab Deluxe [traced]

I meant Q4, correct.
Remove C8, put R13 between C7 and ground.
R7 should be 100 ohms.
100 ohms between C5 and ground.

Re: REQ: Basic Audio Scarab Deluxe [traced]

Fairly close. Remove R9 Remove the 750 in series with +9v Put 1k in series with the Bias Pot (25K) R5 is 1k C4 is 100uf FAT is 100k 1K off FUZZ pot is 750 ohms C7 is .1 Q3 emitter goes to .1 then to the high side of the tone pot. Split off the same .1 is 10k to the low side of the pot and a .1 to 2k...

Not to stir the pot but I'd love to know what the Dimehead tweaks are.
Anyone figure it out?

Most of the talk is about the filter knob but check Paul's (PRR)
first post which is very close to your scheme, and my question as the initial post.

Re: ESR graphic fuzz traced & layout [schematic]

When you use a buffer before the circuit it will help with bringing back some high end
and stabilizing the circuit a bit. The oscillation is the fun part of the circuit.
There are a lot of big fuzz sounding circuits but this one has some weirdness
which is neat.

The Schematic has been verified for a year or more.
Granted the Schematic I posted was missing a ground and a 10k resistor.

20 seconds using the search function....
Easy cowboy, I did search and it didn't come up.
I found this thread though.
Must have only given it 15 seconds. :horsey:
Someone was kind enough to send me a link, thanks.

Re: Interfax - Harmonic Percolator [schematic]

The Balance slider is a Level control.
Controls the balance of Level between bypassed and "on". :D
Just a little confusing but the order convention was to call it "balance"
It should not mix clean and distorted signals while the pedal is engaged.

Re: Honey Special Fuzz [schematic]

The octave/balance is fine when you match the transistors Hfe and use tight tolerance resistors to ground (22Ks). Some folks like to imbalance that section to get a little less octave so I guess it's up to you whether you want control over the octave or want it set strong. I don't think it warrants ...

Re: Vorg - F-502 Warp Sound (Pearl F-602)

The 10k at the input can be 15K I've seen both...Not crucial at all.
I used something more than 27ohms at the freq pot. It just limits the frequency at the high end
so it's also not crucial, just sub in a 1k pot there are test to see what you like.
The 47k at the output is right.
