Re: buying transistors, ICs from ebay -- ant-notes for begin
I will say I've gotten some really nice parts off of ebay, almost all were legit. I would say to watch out for vintage carbon comp resistors, as these almost always increase in value over decades. In other words, your 100k resistor will actually measure 120k. Not good. That goes for old CC resistors...

Re: Building Valve Amplifiers by Morgan Jones
I happened to see my old post here, original link is quite dead. But I found this link on google for the THIRD edition of this book, 600+ pages in PDF form. Link seems legit, make sure your antivirus is working and take the usual precautions when downloading from an unknown site. http://milas.spb.ru...

Re: Friedman BE-OD Pedal [traced]
FWIW I like to do some chip swapping. I don't do that stupid chip stacking, I just swap known good sounding dual op amps. With some circuits, like heavily modded/gained out TS808's, I hear a lot of difference with different chips. I play palm muted chunky Metal/Punk, and with that style the differe...

Re: Friedman BE-OD Pedal [traced]
The whole reason I say I have a healthy scepticism re the differences op-amps can make is because in previous builds I have tried many different op-amps, from the JRC4558 to TL072, TL082, TL062, TL272CP, OP275GP, OPA2134PA, and probably some others I can't remember. To be frank I rarely hear a diff...

Chip substition in newer DS-1
I had a dead newer (5223 chip) DS1 come in, turns out the chip was toast. I didn't have another SIP chip handy so I used a DIP8 adapter. First I put in a trusty TI 4558. Sounded like crap, I thought something else was wrong with the pedal. Very distorted sounding, not in a good way. Tried a TLE2072,...

Re: AMT - Legend Amp Series 2 [traced]
I've owned 3 of these AMT legend pedals, the Recto, 5150 and Bogner. I kept the B2 (Bogner), I like it a lot. I use it for a gainly Marshallish crunch tone. I think the AMT's are built well and are good sounding. If you get one used it's a lot of pedal for the money IMO. I think the "1" se...

Re: Ibanez - Bottom Booster 9 [schematic]
Well, to my ear the 1n4002 do not sound especially good in this circuit. As someone said above, it's somewhat "splattery" sounding and that's who I was addressing with that comment. Note that I didn't say board mounted jacks/pots were bad - I simply pointed out that Ibanez has changed thei...

Re: Ibanez - Bottom Booster 9 [schematic]
I just got one of these. Thx to Dirk for the schem! I'm not sure on the circuit but the charge pump makes me think of a Klon, although the rest of the circuit doesn't exactly. It seems Ibanez is using 1n4002 diodes as clippers on the gain control, I'm not sure this is the best choice of diodes. In f...

Dig around on this site, there's a lot of interesting stuff including other books by Jones. They will cut you off after you download 5-6 items and attempt to get you to join and make a "donation"

Re: Bogner Ecstasy Red
Just want to say thx to the forum members for posting pics of these! I don't think we'll be cloning these anytime soon, judging by the gut shots. I kinda want the Über pedal but I own the amp so it seems stupid to buy the pedal. :slap: There seems to be quite a few of these on eBay at $220ish, I mig...

2) ADA Flanger Clone boards f/s from Moosapotamus's project
Hey guys, I have 2 new boards from the ADA Flanger clone project from a few years back, version 3. They are mint and untouched. I haven't gotten around to building it so I figured it was time to let them fly. Note that these are super quality boards, as good as it gets, really. Pics available if you...

Re: Hermida Audio - Zendrive [ goop-alarm ] [traced]
Back to the chip, might have to disagree on the AD712 being the stock chip. I just got a 712 and it looks nothing like the stock chip, plus it has a notch at one end. Stock chip looks like a TI or Fairchild product to me.

Re: Paul Cochrane - Timmy [traced]
Paul, on another subject, would you mind telling us what kind of clear coat you're using on your pedals? It seems to be pretty tough and shiny. I'm using some clear now that seems kind of "plastic-y", I'd like a more professional finish. I assume you're using a 2 part self hardening auto ...
