Fuzz Factory Transistors?
So, we know that the early factories used the super mojo spam can transistors, and later models use 2N404 , but does anyone 'know' what trannies were in the early perfboard versions from around '97 to 2002 or so? I see many, many references to the transistors being AC128, but can anyone confirm that...

Re: Neo-Vibe
They do yes, it can be expensive though so I usually only order when I have a large enough order to justify it.

Re: Neo-Vibe
If you mean the R.G Keen Neovibe, it's 100% the best way to build, provided you buy the relatively inexpensive PCB from Generalguitargadgets. I've built two, the first had a couple of small errors to fix, the second fired up perfectly first time around and took half the time to build, even with the ...

Re: Zvex - Probe series
Two ways I can think of to reduce the sensitivity: 1: Reduce the antennae size, or add capacitance in parallel. Both will have the effect of reducing the 'range' of the proximity sensor. 2: Lower the operating voltage; reduces effective range of controller. This is going to be trickier to dial in, a...

Thanks for that link. I'll go through it and check it all out when I have more time but it looks like a winner.
Do you have any other confirmed builds?

Anybody know what schem values to use to make a Swollen Pickle?

Re: ZVex Instant Lo-Fi Junky
If you do a search, there's a website with code for a PIC LFO somewhere, my guess is it's not too difficult to do. PIC's can often be blown with a non-read function, so it's likely that the code can't be ripped. However, you could easily knock up a relaxation oscillator to do the same thing in an an...

Can anybody see the THAT chip that's supposedly responsible for the compression?
It's not a circuit i'm that interested in cloning, given that my Marshall Supervibe sounds exactly the same, but i'm still curious.

Re: Zvex - Fuzz Factory [traced]
It has been my experience that the FF will work with a range of transistors, however there is a sweet spot in the gain ranges for Q2&3 which gives you the best range of oscillation and gated sounds. Surprise surprise, it's between 70 and 120hfe. I have used 2N3906's successfully, and they sound ...

Re: ZVex Instant Lo-Fi Junky
That's awesome, the LFO is being generated by the pic, hence the multiple waveshapes.
Anybody else taking bets on there being a version in the works with MIDI sync?
EDIT: Either way, it's a Boss VB-2 in fancy clothes.

Can anybody direct me to a copy of the PCB?? I prefer to have board mounted pots where possible.

Or you could go over to Geofex, and look at the Austin Trebleblaster project. It will answer all your questions.

Not only a killer pedal, but one of the best videos i've seen for a long time.
Clearly a lot of digital stuff going on there, I doubt it's cloneable.

Re: Zvex - Fuzz Factory [traced]
Agreed, there's very little difference between Ge and Si in this circuit, they're both very bright.
That said, some leaky Ge I tried did sound particularly nice, but in the context of a band, you literally will not be able to tell the difference.
FWIW, 2N3906 sound just fine.

Is anybody else surprised that people actually pay for that thing, having heard the sound samples on his site?
I thought it sounded mis-biased. I don't get it.

When you say typical response, how light/dark variation is normal? Does the bulb turn off on the down swing?

Re: Zvex - Probe series
Mine works well with scrap PCB material, and plate aluminium, but the best material i've found is fairly thin brass sheet. Doesn't corrode like copper, and works pretty much as well.
