Re: rare audio effects fuzz? [schematic]

From what I can see it has a somewhat of a Fuzzrite structure. Q1 has that electro from the input jack connected to its base. The -9V supply feeds a 2K2 or 33K connected to its collector with a 1M across the collector/base junction. Both transistors' emitters appear to be grounded. The fuzz control ...

Re: Bass tuned Tonebender MKII

A MkII circuit does not lend itself to bass guitar. Too much gain, too "mushy" of a character. There's way better candidates out there for bass use.

Nope. In this one the .1uf's were white colored film caps. The .047's were brownish/orange film caps. 470pf's were ceramic. The .01uf in the tone section was a black box cap and the .0047uf was ceramic.

The version I checked out had BC318C transistors in it as well as the gate circuitry.

Its a muff. You can use any Muff vero. Just leave out the stuff omitted from the regular circuit.

Re: Steelphon Fuzz Unit [schematic]

Dragging this one out of the trash bin. Calling Analogguru! He had mentioned in the other post about this pedal that it was a Vox828 with 6K8 instead of 8K2 and a .01uf output cap. Like I mentioned above the pics show 6 resistors like a Vox but the Vox's usual 47K in parallel is gone and the extra r...

Re: Ibanez OD850 (first series)

Built one of these recently. I would recommend using a different tone control. For all the parts involved you end up with an extremely subtle high end rolloff. I thought I had done something wrong but a video of an original on youtube confirmed to my satisfaction that its consistent with the origina...

Those are half inch standoffs. If you're worried about those legs shorting to the enclosure its not really a possibility.

Re: Selmer FUZZ-WAH [schematic]

Haha

I just realized what a strange term "souped up" is. My other choice would have been "gnarlier" but that would have been confusing as well I guess. That fuzz wah must have come after the Buzztone since the differences seem like much needed improvements.

Re: Selmer FUZZ-WAH [schematic]

You'll recognize a sort of souped up Selmer Buzztone circuit in there. 9volts, Emitter bypass cap on the first stage, more gain on the later stages...

Re: Steelphon Fuzz Unit [schematic]

You are confusing the positive and negative ends of the cap. The positive end is the one with the row of +++ on it. Not the striped end. The 10K does connect to the cap but at its negative end (also connected to lug 2 of the pep pot) the positive end is connected to the strip of ground surrounding t...

Re: Steelphon Fuzz Unit [schematic]

If you look at the trackside pics you see the positive end of the 25uf cap is connected to ground at the outer edge of the board. Where the 10K meets is the other end of the cap. You can follow that trace to Lug 2 of the Pep pot. You can follow the other end of the 10k's trace to both the emitter of...

The schematic can throw you off but its basically a buffer into a fuzz face with diode clipping...probably sounds pretty cool

Re: Steelphon Fuzz Unit [schematic]

When you look at the pics you basically see a Vox Tone Bender. It has a .22uf input cap, a 47K feedback resistor, .0033 output cap. A very hard to make out 820ohm resistor between lug 1 of the "Pep" pot and ground, Looks like a 25uf emitter bypass cap and a 6K8 resistor on Q2's collector i...

Re: SRS Exciter EQ

By the way - a 10k pot for the tone control has much more range! You'll get more mids (less scoop) out of the circuit when the EQ knob is turned fully clockwise with a 10K but the "action" only really exists in the first 2K's of the tone control. A 5K audio could be good possibly but a li...
