Re: Duncan Amps - Tone Stack Calculator

I've played around with DTSC and do have some observations, which is what brought me to post in this thread. Changing Zsrc even by relatively small amounts has an effect on the frequency response. I'm talking about the Muff stack it uses. By default, Zsrc is set to 1k. If Duncan used a Muff to arriv...

Re: Duncan Amps - Tone Stack Calculator

Just pretend its the final output stage and use the regular way of calculating the impedance. From the other site, from RG himself : https://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=72321.msg584615#msg584615 There is some interesting info in the rest of that thread as well. Basically this (on ...

Re: Duncan Amps - Tone Stack Calculator

OK, I can' t find it.
But I did find a lot of amp forums using it and see a lot of high Zsrc values.
Maybe thats what I read.

My pains meds haven't kicked in yet so I don't have the energy or drive to look any further ATM.

Re: Duncan Amps - Tone Stack Calculator

One thing about the DTSC is setting the proper Zsrc. Which is the output impedance of the circuit that's feeding it. I rarely see anyone mention it. It can make a HUGE difference in component selection with some tone controls, particularly if you are trying to get a specific response. Jack Orman ma...

Re: Vertex NOS Axis Wah - De-gooped [traced]

Honestly, I think the whole thing is ****ing ridiculous. On both sides. TGP is acting like a president took their hard-earned tax money and spent it on... oh wait. :slap: Maybe I just don't relate to it as strongly, given where I live; it comes across as a first-world problem of the most ridiculous...

Re: Vertex NOS Axis Wah - De-gooped [traced]

Michael Landau is a class act for that alone.

Mason also posted his confession on the vertex web page (Well, a link to the TGP thread) and the full text on vertex facebook page.

I likely will never buy anything from him and may never trust him, but my respect for him is now not a negative number.

Mason finally came clean:

Not to validate the lies and deceit, but that took some balls, even if it was a long time coming.

Re: Vertex NOS Axis Wah - De-gooped - [Traced] [traced]

For IvIark, here is the bottom side of the PCB where you can see the inductor pins: Aah right, I didn't realise they were like that. So the pins used seem to be the full 18mm apart and slightly off centre? Hmmm vero probably isn't ideally suited to this one, maybe the vero version would work better...

The main thing I want from all the whole Vertex debacle is to find out what projects you worked on that you wouldn't tell us about
As far as I know, none of that stuff has ever been publicly acknowledged.
I think I'll let someone else do that.

Re: Vertex NOS Axis Wah - De-gooped - [Traced] [traced]

What are the dimensions of the inductor and what is the pin spacings? I can't seem to find the details on them All measurements taken on pin centers Pin to pin : 3.75mm Diameter : 10.5 mm That ok, or you need other measurements? I think my CV surprised that sloppyseconds guy. He probably didn't bel...

Re: Vertex NOS Axis Wah - De-gooped - [Traced] [traced]

Correction : Lug 3 not Lug 1 on the Body/Q Pot: "Although LUG 3 on the "Body" or "Q" pot is not connected to anything in either the BBE or the Vertex". Not that it really matters from a functional standpoint which 2 lugs you use on that pot, 1 & 2 or 2 & 3. Can a mod maybe correct that? Swapping lu...

Vertex NOS Axis Wah - De-gooped [traced]

Well, as some of you may know, on The "Lawyer" forum (TGP) there was a big stink about Vertex Effects Wah pedals (Among other things). Vertex has (had?) 2 Axis Wahs, the normal one and the "NOS" one. One of the users offered to loan his NOS to someone if they were willing to de-goop it and find out ...

Re: Ventura Vintage 50 Schematic

It uses a LM1875T as the power amp (20 Watts). Less than $3 from Mouser. My guess is that's what failed. At least the SS amps I have repaired in the past, the majority of the time it was the power amp chip that died. It looks very simple and basic so I'll be fine just tracing it. https://img.photobu...

Ventura Vintage 50 Schematic

Well, my nephew decided to take up guitar. He bought himself a guitar. Now he wants an amp, and he asked me if I had any extra amps I could sell him. I figured I would fix one of the broken ones I have and just give it to him. Maybe charge him for any parts that I may have to buy. I have 2 extra bro...

Yeah, I get a little, lets say aggressive when it comes to free speech and free exchange of ideas and information and such.
Without that concept, the internet (As well as many many other things) would not exist.
Hell, I was using the internet before few outside of CERN knew what WWW was.
