Re: Oberheim - PFV-1 pedal (voltage modulator)

Hey egrefin, sorry I sold that pedal on ebay a few years back
I regretted selling it 'cos it went for peanuts..some guy in New York got it
I shoulda kept it and repurposed it in hindsight...but I thought it would bring more than $40!

Re: Chunk Systems - Agent 00FUNK! [traced]

Nice job with that build johnk...looks great! I bought an Agent 00Funk II this week, I love it! I remember trying one in the shop when they came out and thought it was a bit peaky & sensitive, but since I've been using compression in front of envelopes they're much more usable I was a Mutron fre...

Re: Hughes & Kettner - Rotosphere [schematic]

Thanks blackbunny, I'll just stick to 12VAC...I've got another here
The one I was using was getting hot and buzzing so I thought I needed more than a 1 amp supply
I've got another newish 12VAC 1 amp so I'll try that, maybe the old one's kaput
Cheers, squatch

Re: Hughes & Kettner - Rotosphere [schematic]

Congrats krueppel for persisting with that project...well done! I was gonna start using my old Mk1 again, but the supply I have with it is buzzing Just wondering if it's safe to plug in a 15VAC adaptor? (but I'd check the output first) How much voltage do you think a MK1 would handle safely? Thanks ...

Re: Oberheim - PFV-1 pedal (voltage modulator)

Hi Zokk,
Good question...not sure of the voltage output
I suppose it be the designed to match an SEM module, probably 10V
I'm assuming it outputs sine rather than square wave
Because it takes two 9 volt cells it's probably 10V

Re: Dumble, anybody?

I always wanted a Dumble 'cos Lowell George used one
But then I saw Lowell was using a BF Super Reverb (which I've got) so I don't care

Jeez, if the Dumble's worth that much, then what's my little nest egg worth? heh

Re: Keio - Synthesizer Traveler

Anyway, I don't know if there's a thread for the Korg VCF pedal...there should be! https://www.freestompboxes.org/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=12122&p=131252 There;s also another thread for the Keio Traveler, but some parts/schematic/layout discrepancies were never resolved. :( Thanks Dan...I did n...

Tube chassis for Pignose 30/60...any ideas?

Was thinking of putting a valve chassis in my old Pignose amp They're a great little tranny amp..I always thought they were the best at the time, but it's starting to clag out a bit so I thought it would be a cool project The chassis is 370mm wide and 75mm high Curious if anyone has modded or upgrad...

Re: Keio - Synthesizer Traveler

I suggest reading Kakehashi's biography "I believe in music". It's a very interesting read and it will grow a respect for Kakehashi as a man with vision and more important, a lot of guts. Thanks Dirk, I'd love to read that book, I love Roland gear..most reliable gear on the planet Lucky y...

Re: Keio - Synthesizer Traveler

Interesting pedal...as soon as I saw the 'traveler' button it made me think of the old Korg VCF pedal (which I've had a few of over the years...great pedal) Sure enough I Googled 'Keio Korg' and got heaps o' stuff.. Keio is the early name of Korg (as Acetone is to Roland) I feel silly not knowing th...

Re: Hughes & Kettner - Rotosphere [schematic]

Now I want to put a Blue Boy Deluxe between the two but I worry about blowing the BBD input with the Mutron Yep, that's a risky proposition alright. I have a late 70's EH Electric Mistress and Deluxe Memory Man both sitting in my cupboard waiting for SAD1024 BBD's. Best to put any high output devic...

Re: Hughes & Kettner - Rotosphere [schematic]

Thanks again blackbunny, great info I was fiddling about the other day with the gain settings, trying to balance the output of the Mutron III to the input, the Mutron's a fairly hot output, but I got it sounding pretty good. Now I want to put a Blue Boy Deluxe between the two but I worry about blowin...

Thanks blackbunny for those schematics, they'll come in handy I just got my Mk 1 working after 5 years of thinking it was broken Turns out I was using the wrong supply...not enough grunt It was lighting up but no signal and the rotor lights were'nt firing I sure would like to know how to reduce the ...

Oberheim - PFV-1 pedal (voltage modulator)

Here's some pics of the Oberheim PFV-1 pedal Not a guitar pedal, it's main function is sending voltage to a modular control voltage synthesiser. It has a rate control for speed, an on off switch for connecting the two internal 9 volt batteries, and another switch under the pedal which I assume is fo...

Hey thanks Peter & Zokk!
BTW I'm just a guitar tech that can solder so I wouldn't attempt a build
But my synth tech could build one (if I don't get one from Pete...heh)
Thanks again guys

Thanks for the info scruffie,
'spose I just assumed it was a Mutron on the '74 tour, 'cos he was using other Mutron gear
didn't realise there was other octavers at the time..thought the Mutron was the first...my bad

Re: Mutron - Octave Divider

Hi Boris, I was attempting to duplicate Zappa's sound on the 'Penguin in Bondage' live solo, but couldn't quite get it I think Zappa had the sweep pedal on the Bi-Phase going at the same time, and he may have tweaked it with studio outboard gear 'cos he did overdub some things on the Live Roxy album...

Oberheim - VCF-200 pedal (sample & hold - filter)

One of my favourite pedals..mine died in the 70's and I couldn't find a tech in Sydney that could fix it None of the digital simulations quite have the same analog 'thwack' as the originals (listen to Zappa's solo on 'Ship Ahoy' for a good demonstration) Anyway..I couldn't find one on the forum whic...

Re: Mutron - Octave Divider

Historical note: I'm pretty sure Zappa used one of these units on his vocals for the '74 tour He used it for his low basso profundo vocals on 'I'm the Slime' and 'Dirty Love' etc I think the only other unit around back then was the dbx subharmonic generator, which I doubt Zappa used 'cos it was a do...
