Re: Moen Deep Blue Distortion “Gut Shots”

I have a Mad Professor Royal Blue distortion clone. Your description sounds like that. No internal pots but bass and treble on the front. Lots of top and gain available on it. Sounds much better at 12v.

Re: Oscilloscope

I use one of these when I don't want to drag out my big scope: Assembled DSO150 Digital Oscilloscope 2.4" LCD Display With Case Test Clip Power Uses a 9v supply or battery tip POSITIVE... Search Ebay they are around US $30.. Works great for pedals.. https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/DPAAAOSwCmhgZC...

Re: BOSS - OD-2r into OD-2 conversion

I've read people lower or jump out R62 47K on the OD-2 to get a little more volume. The OD-2R has a the tone control isolated from the volume control. The whole section is designed to run at a lower impedance. So if you raise the volume pot from 50K to 100K after bypassing those transistors Q17 + Q1...

Re: Boss HM-3 Hyper Metal Mods

I was thinking of getting a hm3 since the hm2's are so stupid expensive now. They are not that different that you can't mod one to the other. :applause:

Re: Issues with Small Stone Phaser

LFO ticking is usually power related as the LFO ticks into other op amps. that's why on the small clone and other chorus's they use very low power consuming op amps in the LFO section. The small stone phaser doesn't have that as it's all ca3080's You could try other ca3080's for IC5 or swap the ones...

Re: Issues with Small Stone Phaser

I had already gone through the building reports. But I only see mods for volume drops of the entire effect. For me it is mainly when switching the color switch. But I have not yet encountered this problem on the internet. What is the function of capacitor Ca? This is not in the original design. htt...

Mosky Amp Turbo / Deluxe Amp11

I just took apart my Amp Turbo. The board seems to be the same as the deluxe as it has the solder pads for the 3 switches and all the components. The components are surface mounted except the coupling capacitors witch are an orange film type, and the 2N5888 boost Transistor. All the clipping diodes ...

Re: Dunlop - Cry Baby GCB-95: how to improve it for cheap

I think I need some thoughts... Recently I´ve been trying some mods on my GCB95. I tried to change the 0.01uF cap to 0.022uF (it got too bassy), and mechanicaly changed the range of the wah pot like... 1 or 2 notches, but eventually I reverted those changes to stock specs afterwards. By now the cha...

Re: suhr backplate silent single coil

I bought one from iLitch http://www.ilitchelectronics.com/strat-bpncs-3/ the POW model for my over wound strat pu's. Looking at the patent diagram mine has no cap fig 22 that leg connects to ground. Also there is no R fig 21, R fig 19 is 10k and the adjustment pots are bolth 10k. The coil resistance...

Re: Solo Dallas - SVDS Replica [traced]

Angus set his amp to have an overdrive and set the transmitter/receiver to boosts its overdrive. Almost all guitar players do the same with a booster pedal like ts9 that is a mid boost, if I use a linear boost like lpb1 or mxr microamp to boost a marshall amp we have harsh highs and blured basses b...

Re: Solo Dallas - SVDS Replica [traced]

I'm sure they'd buffer that compander... . Maybe a sallen key low pass filter: [ Image ] In the application notes 1/2 of an opamp is used for pre emphasis before compression and the another 1/2 is used to de emphasis the expdander. Now could you do the pre + de emphasis just with passives... and is...

Re: Solo Dallas - SVDS Replica [traced]

Pre and De-emphasis can be as simple as a CR network giving treble boost on the way in to a circuit and a corresponding CR circuit giving treble cut at the output of the circuit. It's no great magic (forget RIAA by the way - the frequencies aren't interesting for guitar). I use exactly this approac...

Re: Analogman - King of Tone [traced]

Has anyone confirmed which three resistors per "channel" are supposed to be carbon composite instead of carbon film as in the rest of the pedal (please no discussion on the merits of that practice, I sincerely beg you!)? If one has an insight on that and maybe could refer to actual compon...

Yawn... These type arguments have been going around forever. It wasn't that long ago people were arguing over capacitor dielectrics.. Are all the opamps from the same manufacture too??

Re: Joyo JF-02 Mods ?

I had done the freakish blues mod and was underwhelmed so I put the UD in my drawer for a few years. Got it out Monday and decided to try and re-work it to as close to a v1.3 OCD. After undoing the freaking blues pot resistors the first thing to go was the buffer. Now looking at the board the two 1u...

Re: Joyo - JF-36 Sweet Baby [schematic]

Funny thing.. I was trying to find a boost that didn't color the sound of the cranked AC30 in my 11R and after going through all my pedals tried this one. Gain on zero, tone around 9 - 10 o'clock level 2 - 3 o'clock works perfectly. I absolutely hated this pedal when I bought it and it just sat in m...
