Re: RC4558P alternatives? / Joyo Maximum Overdrive

If you put the boost in front of the peal then it will affect the tones the pedal will produce. If the boost is after the pedal the tones produced by the pedal will be increased in volume but the tones will not be affected.

Re: RC4558P alternatives? / Joyo Maximum Overdrive

The best way to get more gain without affecting the sound would to put a linear booster in line after the pedal.

Re: Germanium in my attic

Re: Germanium in my attic

To my recollection - I'm 79, in the early days in the absence of a type number, a white dot donated an RF transistor - suitable for medium wave radios - and a red dot meant it was suitable for audio frequencies. Re: Aliexpress, Good or bad experiences?

There was a hiccup recently when some items I ordered were sent back to sender - supposedly because of deleys at the distribution hub so I had to reorder. These seem to be on route satisfactorily. The delay happened just after the Microsoft debacle suspicious maybe?

Re: Aliexpress, Good or bad experiences?

Re: Biasing a rangemaster type circuit

A true Rangemaster is not a distortion device but a treble booster. The output should not be distorted.

Re: Benson Preamp [SOLVED]

You could have fake J201s. They are not being made any more. You really need some test equipment if you are going to DIY and a multimeter is essential.
