Re: Vertex - Steel String Singer [traced]

I read an article where he apologizes and then stated that all his pedals are made in an assembly house in batches. Not sure if they are clones or not though.

Looks and sounds great man. Good Job!

I absolutely would love to try one. What's the exchange rate in freedom bucks?

Re: Darkglass - Vintage Microtubes [schematic]

I really like this design. It's clean simple and it allows you to scoop your mids and run it direct because of the LPF. I knew this was good pedal but seeing this really shows how much Doug gets bass players and their needs.

Are there any other FETs that would work? MPF102? 2N5457?

Re: Carl Martin Contour & Boost Gut Shots [traced]

I had really high hopes for this pedal with my bass but I kept overdriving it. Maybe mine was busted but I just assumed it had a ton of headroom because of the AC plug. It looks like there is a big boost at the input. That may have been my problem.

Thanks!

Re: Pedal Projects needs your help!

You know...we all start somewhere. I probably have plenty of cringe inducing posts on many forums. I think a person is able to grow in a short amount of time and if the work ethic is there and the products are quality then I don't really care. But...these are just clones and as history shows kicksta...

I really don't see the point in building something like this in this day and age.

I guess it's just for Mesa fanboys.

Well MXR just updated it with an eq. I love mine stock but I wish it went below unity gain. That would require redesign though.

Thanks for this. I had considered picking one up to try with my bass but the price scared me a little bit. I also assumed it was a transistor fuzz.

I've owned a few and none of them were gooped.

They were tightly packed though.

what about C7? does it measure 10n? ...i'm thinking about the BoR circuit: there are schematics around that indicate 100n (and 10n also) - i'm still not sure of which is the correct/best value thanks for your nice work! I believe they could be different values. I played a Distortron and BOR in the ...

Ask for a picture. No diodes would equal a boost until you exceeded the opamps headroom then the opamp will clip (which can sound nice in certain circumstances).

I just sim'd the graphic EQ portion and unless I messed up it didn't equate to much more than a bass boost.

The mid control is nice though!

Re: Abusing CMOS ICs for fun and profit

I can never get CMOS pedals to sound good. Maybe I've blown a few inverters??? How can I tell? Will they still linear bias but sound all splatty and shit? Either way I'm always looking for a new project. Also...how is the decay on bassy notes? My Tube Sound Fuzz gets splatty with my bass on the deca...
