Is that the beta of the transistors written down next to each one on the circuit board?

Re: Black Arts Toneworks - Boneshaker [traced]
Did you test it with a meter? It kinda makes sense since the codes are B103 56L2 and A504 56A1, so that's a good point. I didn't test with a meter. I just read the values from the side of the pots. Using other parametric EQ schematics for guidance (sabrotone, geofex, BYOC, etc), 10K just seemed too...

Re: Black Arts Toneworks - Boneshaker [traced]
I verified the circuit trace. Nice job jrfox92! Just to nit pick, the FREQ pots are 500K log and I think all the pots may have pins 1 & 3 reversed. I've also read that the EQ is pre distortion, but the trace clearly shows that isn't the case. I think the distortion control adds diode clipping di...

Then all you'll need is any decent 5 to 10 watt amp. Hope this helps.

Fender - Vibrolux Reverb Boost (Late 70's)
In the late 70's Fender added a push/pull boost switch to the volume pot of several of their amps. I was having a hard time finding a schematic that included this circuitry. I'd seen several folks on the interwebs comment about the reverb being employed, but nothing specific. So, I opened up a 1979 ...

This is the picture I sent to Fairchild for verification. The authentic Fairchild part I got from Mouser is on the left. They said the part on the right (from Tayda) is counterfeit.

Re: "Fake" 2n5457
This debate about counterfeit parts has gone on for a while without any official word from the manufacturers. Since I don't have any questionable 2N5457's, I sent a picture of a couple of J201's (one from Mouser and one from Tayda) to Fairchild to see what they had to say. The email I got back confi...

Is that finger paint? I can't tell if I love it or hate it, but I'm sure I feel strongly about it.

Re: "Fake" 2n5457
I have to warn you. About a year ago I ordered a bunch of J201's from Tayda. What arrived were the counterfeit ones that have been documented on this forum. Personally, I wouldn't order from them again.

Looking at the schematic, what is the benefit of using a J201 on the output of the brick rather than the unused op amp?

Re: Enclosure Hole Spacing and Layout
I just bought some more steel washers, so if you're inclined to use them, here's more info. The common USS 7/16" washers fit loose around the switch and have an O.D. of 1-1/4". The washers I like are SAE 7/16". They fit more snug around the footswitch threads and have a smaller 15/16&...

Re: Need help with strange oscilation problem
I built a pedal based on a Fuzz Face that did the same thing- sounded great, but rolling down the guitar volume caused it to squeal. I think Dr Nomis is correct (as usual) about it being an impedance issue. I put a 10K pot in series with the input and adjusted it until the squeal stopped. Then I mea...

Lowbrow, that REALLY sounds fantastic (I think I drooled on myself a little while listening to the clip)! And THANX for sharing your insights! What are the TO-92 and 8-pin DIP in your build? Also, are you using the LM337 for extra regulation on a potentially shakey power supply?

Personally, I don't like the look of the plastic washer. I always replace it with a steel one from the local hardware store.

Re: How do I get toner transfered onto aluminum enclosures?
If you're using something like a Hammond cast aluminum box, be aware that the top isn't perfectly flat- the box is slightly concave. As such, the iron won't press the image into the center of the box as well as at the edges, and the pressure is important for getting the toner to stick to the box. Yo...

Re: How Do You Put Graphics/Labels onto a Black Box ?
Lucifer, something else occurred to me. A while ago I modified a Boss Metal Zone with a couple of micro switches to kill the distortion (yes, I bought a distortion pedal and then eliminated the distortion from it [smilie=a_huh.gif] ). I wanted a quick, cheap and dirty way to label the switches witho...
