FS: Peak Atlas DCA55 (semiconductor component analyser)
http://www.peakelec.co.uk/art/dca55.jpg https://www.ebay.com/itm/131131602393 Hey all, I'm selling my Peak Atlas DCA55 on eBay. There aren't too many pedal builders out there so I'm trying to spread the word. Product info and specs here.. http://www.peakelec.co.uk/acatalog/jz_dca55.html It's in per...

Re: D*A*M - Red Rooster
I built mine with 10K LOG and 100K Linear and it sweeps very nice on both. Although... the 10K LOG boost knob is only usable after 12 o'clock. I don't mind that at all though. It hits unity level around 12 or 1 o 'clock if I recall correctly. But there are probably other factors involved besides aud...

Yeah I noticed that too. I messaged him and he replied (if you click the link you'll see this info under "comments" below) "But in answer to your question yes the other 47u is a power supply filter cap and wouldn't be required with a battery. You could still add one if you wanted, jus...

Re: Myths, Legends and the Mojo of the Dallas Rangemaster
Cool thanks.
IvIark put this vero layout recently. Pretty neat. 6 way input cap switching. Unverified but looks good to go.

Re: Myths, Legends and the Mojo of the Dallas Rangemaster
Yeah I saw those. That's why I asked actually. I wasn't sure how those adjustable things worked and would rather just buy a straight up 4 position switch. Thanks again man!

Re: Myths, Legends and the Mojo of the Dallas Rangemaster
Any advice as far as which rotary switch to use? I understand if you'd rather not say. Thanks either way.

Re: Myths, Legends and the Mojo of the Dallas Rangemaster
That's very generous of you man. Thanks!
Cool layout. If you could somehow rearrange the order of the wiring for the pot, you could even use a board-mount pot. Kind of convenient because then you don't have to worry about mounting the board somehow.

You like the 25uF electrolytic caps instead of 50uF?
Also noticed the 39K instead of 3K9?

Ah, right on. Just at input to ground?
Oh, also, I realized I never posted a shot of the front of the pedal.

Re: Plum Crazy FX - The Squawk
Interesting. It seems it would be in the circuit whether or not Ge or Si transistor is selected though. So I'm not convinced there isn't another purpose. The rangemaster is somewhat of a notoriously noisy circuit so I can't help but wonder if the ceramic disc cap is there for that purpose? I'm not d...

0.1" pitch is what I have at home so that would be ideal. I'm looking to create (recreate?) a Rangemaster variation... https://www.freestompboxes.org/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=17725 So inplace of the input capacitor I want to have a 6-way rotary switch, to choose from 6 different values from .004...

Re: Plum Crazy FX - The Squawk
2 more questions about this... 1. What is the ceramic disc cap on the board? I see the 6 input caps, the two 47uF electrolytic caps, the other film cap on the board is likely the 0.01uF that the circuit calls for but what is that ceramic cap? To kill off interference? Any idea of the value and how i...

Re: Plum Crazy FX - The Squawk
I'm thinking the 6 input capacitors are probably something like... .0047uF .01uF .022uF .047uF .068uF or .082uF .15uF Based on GEOfex article on the Dallas Rangemaster 0.005uF is stock (and Plum Crazy mentions on their site that fully clockwise on the 6-way switch is "stock"). And GEOfex a...

Re: Analogman - Sun Face (Sunface) [traced]
Removed the 91 hFe PNP Ge transistor I had in Q1 and replaced it with a 193 hFe 2N3906 PNP Si I had laying around. Big improvement (for what I personally want to hear). It gives it a slightly harsher silicon edge but without going fully harsh/silicon sounding. It cleans up real nice with your guitar...

I socketed the transistors... so I'm thinking I might make this a hybrid.
