Re: BUZZAROUND-ALIKE
Sorry to revive this old thread, but i've been breadboarding this, and while i really like the texture of the fuzz i'm getting at full sustain, i can't get rid of a few problems. 1. Gating on the end of sustained notes. 2. Lower than almost full sustain, is really low gain, and not really what i'm l...

Re: Catalinbread - Galileo Vox in a Box [traced]
that looks exceptionally pretty! how did you get that finish? It's a PPP powdercoat. I found a local shop that lasered it up for me. I'll prolly make the board order in the next week or two, then it will be a few weeks before I get them. Shooting for the end of March to have more on hand. What do y...

small contribution : polytone minibrute guts
As it's opened waiting for some components to finish the cap job, i thought i might as well post some gut pics here in case it helps someone. Polytone minibrute I from 86 apparently. the layout and components seem to match exactly the schematics found on murchmusic website, except that the preamp on...

I would like to add a reverb to a polytone amp (without reverb) i grabbed used a few weeks ago. As advised, i'm changing all electrolytic caps into it at the moment and i thought tha...

Insert box of hall reverb into a polytone mini brute
Hello guys, I would like to add a reverb to a polytone amp (without reverb) i grabbed used a few weeks ago. As advised, i'm changing all electrolytic caps into it at the moment and i thought that as it's opened, it would be a great time to add reverb to it. However, i am not sure how i could do that...

Re: servicing vintage SS amp
Hey guys, thanks for all your replies and advices ! So i opened the amp and saw two big caps on the power section : 4000uf , 50v, and i couldn't find them at my usual dealers so i thought i would wait a bit... Today, i was playing with this amp and i heard 3 loud cracks (popping sounds) from the amp...

Re: servicing vintage SS amp
the amp says 100 W into 3 ohms indeed.
i'll check for potential damage into these rubber bands.
Does the volume i use for the amp changes the way the caps are working? a.k.a. am i more likely to blow something (except the speaker ..
) if i'm using it at full volume rather than at low volume?

Re: servicing vintage SS amp
First, Thanks for the informations! The amp is humming a bit, but not buzzing or crackling. i think it's a normal hum for a guitar amp. No cracks or shape modification from what i could see, the big 4000uF caps in the power section seem in good shape. The 'electrolytics are designed to live 10 years...

servicing vintage SS amp
Hello all I just found a polytone mini brute I from the early 80s for 25 euros. perfect state. I'm told that i should change all electrolytic caps into it to prevent a possible failure later. I can uderstand that given that electrolytics have more or less 10 years of life. I want to do that myself, ...

VOX AC15 project?
Hello, So i tried a vox AC15C1 yesterday and ... i liked the normal channed and LOVED the top boost channel.... I'm wondering if i could combine that, and my interest in learning to build tube amps (building the madamp J5 kit at the moment, no other experience in amps, made 30 or so pedals). In fact...

Re: headphone box for tube amp
Hello Phil, thanks for your answer! Several questions about what you said: Go find some writings on the UA as it uses 3~4 times R load with great results but some debate on this abounds. -> I will gladly do it, but .. what is the 'UA' in the first place ? :) I personally load a small 10 Watt Valve r...

headphone box for tube amp
First of all i hope it's the right section, it's related to amps and not a stomp box so i thought it would fit here, don't hesitate to relocate the post if not in the right place. So the only amp i have is a fender tremolux, no headphones plug. i'd like to use headphones so, how do i make a headphon...

Re: Lovepedal - Super 6 [traced]
Just being curious about this circuit. i breadboarded it, and i get no OD from it.. only a very very nice 'thump' style attack with the intensity pot maxed out.. i can't tell if it sounds like a vintage fender.. but at unity gain, plugged in my '62 tremolux, on 666 setting, i don't hear any differen...

TL072 should work .. i believe that the suffix is related to package options so you shouldn't have a problem with it. the problem should be somewhere else

Re: Klon - Centaur II
I read an interview of mr electro harmonix who said that he hired an EE from the very beginning to design something. that guy designed the LPB on the way to the big muff if i remember correctly. I don't see why this is a problem for the klon and not for electro harmonix. My point is : this is a comm...

jumping in the train just now ... any chance to get a corrected schematic for this? i know the layouts are ok, but then would it be possible to make the changes in the schematics so all the resources are clear? that would be awesome!
