Re: BAJA ENG overdrive pedal 080218
I've been searching info to make a decent preamp, to load with a SS PA, and avoid the need of a heavy and "non-confortable-to-carry" head amp. I have to say I'm very impressed with all these Baja preamp designs, but Engl has always been a must-have. Now, The PA I have is feeded with 24V; I...

Re: Modern SLO 100 emulator
Soulsonic, this pedal was one of the first ones I've ever built, and the most loved by me in the time I plug and play higainer stuff. Nor Dr Boogie, nor JCM800 "JFETed", nor Mesa Mark "<JFETed"... any of those pleases my ears. I've even tried (with no success) to clone AMTs, but ...

It depends on what transistors you are using... but I believe that 4,5 would be a good starting point.

Re: Tech21 SansAmp PSA-1 PCB traces and schematics [traced]
Actually, about the mistic IC, Tech21 uses TLCs (CMOS rail-to-rail opamps, from Texas Instruments) often in their designs. I believe that's the reason to go for +-5V, since those opamps get fried above +-8V (or 16V, whatever you want to name it). Otherwise, I believe that there should not be reasona...

Re: Seeking for onboard Noise Gate for tube amp
Sinner: you are right about "cleaning up the mess from the begining". In fact, there is NOT EVEN one cable or component already soldered; the amp is still in "plan phase", which means that I am still working on the schemes, and searching for chances and options. But something cal...

Re: Seeking for onboard Noise Gate for tube amp
FiveseveN: indeed, that is the wrong scheme, in KMG's page. All those pretty fancy schemes are the ones that the factory released for confusing electronics rookies... thanx anyway for taking the time in search of info. On the other hand, I haven't tried JSX, but I believs that Engl has much more gai...

Seeking for onboard Noise Gate for tube amp
Hi everyone! I am in search of Noise Gates designs, for putting inside an Engl Powerball workalike I am building. As you may know, the schematics around the web are wrong, onboard NG included. I am not cloning the amp, due the lack of data about, but I found a scheme that someguy, Mzaar, traced. If ...

Re: BLACK FOREST - Based on the Bogner Uberschall
As my short experience tells me...
Any of these kind of designs will sound harsher and brighter with MOSFETs, specially with 2N7000.
Though, I'm seriuosly thinking 'bout replacing them with HiPower MOSFETs, to feed the circuitry with 30+V...

Re: Droid PCB
First of all, its reaaaaaaaally slow... Second, it has no part editor, so, you have only resistors and diodes in the library for to build your project. Third, the user interface is very uncomfortable and unpractical; it's intuitive but, again, so slow. Fourth, the way of tracing tracks/placing plane...
