Re: Seppuku FX Mind Warp

Also, both the schematic and your layout have the mix pot lugs 1 and 3 swapped so the maximum wet is at minimum turn (fully anticlockwise/5'o clock) since the delayed + wobbled signal comes from pin 14. For whatever reason that's how the OG board was - watch a demo video and you'll see. My guess is...

What's going on with that top board with all the SMDs?

Re: Seppuku FX Mind Warp

.....from what I understand the 78L05 is supposed to be sending 5 volts to pin 1. I've got 9.76V going into the 78L05, and 8.72V coming out. I tried another PT2399 I had laying around and no change. Flip it around? I have had pinout issue with 5v regs before. From what I was told by the owner this ...

I'm having trouble getting it to work properly, though. I've never messed around with PT2399 circuits before, but from what I understand the 78L05 is supposed to be sending 5 volts to pin 1. Re: Seppuku FX Mind Warp

Sorry for the mess. I'm no good at drawing schematics - you can see it took me three times just to verify which end of the IC I was looking at. I hope it's high quality enough to read but if you want me to double-check a part I will as long as I still have the pedal. The cap between pins 9 & 10 ...

Friend brought me this and a bunch of wacky older stuff for repair. He hasn't even told me what's wrong with them yet, but I'll do my best to trace them out.

Re: Mad Professor - Simble [traced]

I have a V2.1 2014 on hand. It was my dad's and I inherited it a few months ago. Haven't spent much time playing it to be honest and put it on the "for sale" pile, but maybe I'll give it some more attention. The board is designed in a way that the mounted DC jack sits flush in the enclosur...

So are we still going off the schematic from page 1 of this thread, or is there an updated schematic in one of the many broken image links?

So it’s a lightly modified Superfuzz. I wonder why they changed what they did. I’ve been looking to build the best version of this circuit I can find.

I'm wasn't considering the diode, but that's a moot point. I got my order swapped. Your diagram is correct.

Going over my circuit board with a continuity tester, it seems your orientations for Q2 and Q3 are reversed.

Re: Joyo Ultimate Drive v2 [schematic]

I'm having a weird problem with mine. It sounds thin and the output is diminished compared to how it used to be. My band mate has one so I borrowed it to confirm it wasn't in my head. They're the same "2010" boards, and checking voltages on the IC and the BS170 at the input are nearly iden...

Out of curiosity why did you label your IC's w/ the suffix 'P'. In the photos they're quite clearly marked 'C'.

Audio Event FX - 'Death by Audio - Fuzz War' clone

Dusting this albatross off. Builder on eBay claims to have successfully reverse engineered a factory purchased "Thee Fuzz War" with the added treble boost section, which seemed appealing to me. He even includes a hi-res gutshot, in case anyone here has the wherewithal to trace it.

Re: Fuzzhugger - Algal Bloom [gut shot] [traced]

The rule seems pretty clear. Put the anode towards the higher voltage side, or you destroy the capacitor. See, that's where I'm at a loss. I get where you're coming from because that's pretty much verbatim from Forrest Mims. Just browsing through my pdf of Getting Started in Electronics , I'm going...

Re: Seppuku - Fuzz Overloader [traced]

It sounds like the replacements you've made substituting R8 and R9 have thrown the bias points off. All the other subs you've made should be fine ;) That's what I figured. I'll try to work up some parallel resistor combos with what I have to get as close as possible. Man, I wonder how they figure t...

Re: Fuzzhugger - Algal Bloom [gut shot] [traced]

Correct me if I'm wrong (and I very well might be - maybe an expert can chime in), but I thought one of the purposes of a polarized cap is that it passes voltage only from positive to negative - see the 100uf's use in the VCC section. So in that respect it makes sense to me the way it is, because AC...

Re: Seppuku - Fuzz Overloader [traced]

Is this a super sensitive circuit? I've got it on the breadboard right now, had to make a few substitutions - used a 100 ohm in place of the 10, 220nf instead of 180nf, 220uf instead of 100uf, 2k2 for 2k7 and a 4k7 for 3k9. Through a Jaguar (low output) it's really gated. Turning off the neck pickup...

Re: Fuzzhugger - Algal Bloom [gut shot] [traced]

The breadboard template I posted works, so you can use that as a jumping off point if you like. My understanding of electronics though tells me C4 is oriented just fine. It's filtering DC isn't it?
