Re: Pedal Projects needs your help!

And STILL... the OP has not even visited this site since posting this a week ago! No surprise. His last post before this topic was in January. Of course, my last post here was in January, too... but I've been building for over five years, I haven't sold (or tried to sell) a single pedal, and I don'...

Re: 3PDT switches melting....

What kind of solder are you using? Lead-free solder melts at a much higher temperature. For example, 60-40 melts at 183C and solidifies at 190C. 63-37, which is what I use, melts at 182C and solidifies at 183C. Apparently, two common lead free solders are SAC305 and SN100 (I've never used lead free ...

I'm opening up this forum for people who want to get rid of some stuff they bought too much of. If I was hesistant about this initally, it was only because of the problems and altrication that might come from this, rather than this idea of members helping out one another. Rules & Guidelines :ar...

Re: Dumble, my experience with him

has anyone made a pedal called dumbbell yet? i'm sure he'd sue but that would be good one. Brilliant! I'll come up with something that's in the vicinity of the amplifier soundwise....... Yes. Gasworks did in three versions and they're sort of sought-after by TGP types for their "dumble&q...

Re: How do I get toner transfered onto aluminum enclosures?

If you are not getting good transfer, I would suspect either not enough heat (the toner won't stick if the enclosure does not get hot enough), or a non-flat surface (either the iron or the enclosure). 1. Sand the enclosure flat. Use an actual sanding block, not your hand or a chunk of wood. I start ...

Re: Cheap Strat Tricks

.Mike's suggestion for using the second tone pot as a blend knob sounds really interesting though, and that's pretty minimal in terms of effort required. It is really nice. When you have the neck/bridge going, it can be similar to a Tele's neck and bridge combo. I also like blending in a little bit...

Re: Cheap Strat Tricks

The no-load pot is a specific pot. CTS makes them, as does Bourns. Type "no load pot" into Google, and you'll see tons of places that sell them. Basically, it is a 250k (or 500k) audio pot, but when it hits the full clockwise point, the wiper is completely disconnected from the lugs. Some ...

Re: Cheap Strat Tricks

In the same vein, does anyone have any advice on Strat mods? Ideally mods that don't involve buying new pickups or active electronics. I don't want to put new holes in the wood either. My favorite Strat mod is to switch the middle knob over to a master tone control, and replace the other tone knob ...

Re: Free Adobe software (old, not warez)

Yeah, this went down a few weeks ago. Technically they are not free. The story is that Adobe got sick of running activation servers for old software, which left people who purchased those older versions without the ability to reinstall the software they bought. Adobe they made older versions that di...

Wow Mike! Nice work! How did you manage to cut out the Overdrive part so precisely? It looks perfect, almost like it was machine-molded or something!! How did you pull that off?? Thanks. The top is a just piece of copper clad board, toner transferred/etched just like a circuit board. I think it loo...

Re: Colorsound - Power Boost / Overdriver

I did another layout for the CSOD, and I forgot to share it here! Super easy build. Board-mounted pots w/ gain control, made to fit very comfortably in a 1590BB. http://www.justonemorebuild.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/IMG_0390-150x112.jpg http://www.justonemorebuild.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12...

Re: anybody use MPJA ?

I have ordered from them. I ordered a soldering station for like $20 when I was just getting started. It never worked right, as you can expect with a $20 iron. The knob for setting the temperature had, for lack of a better term, a terrible taper. A degree of rotation in either direction was the diff...

As far as the case goes, I took the back grill panel and put it on the front. Looks really nice, and you can see the tubes and transformers that way. All black which looks pretty neat too. I can snap some pics if you'd like. I did the same thing, but I also flipped the cabinet upside down. Otherwis...

Check Mouser for the Keystone F-1M. They're... uhh... half of what you want. They also have the F-5M... EOL, though.

I looked. I don't believe Keystone makes the full tags.

Re: Hammond Hexagonal and Trapezoid Enclosures

I've got a 1590TRPC [pdf] sitting on my desk right in front of me. I plan on using it for a tap tempo tremolo. A couple of things to note on these: 1. Top jacks only. Side jacks would be at an angle. 2. They're tall! Mine is still in the plastic, but it measures 1.537" / 39mm high. Awesome. I c...

Re: Reliable source for IC7660SCPA in US?

He probably uses the 7660 for its higher current capability.

The 1044s are only good for a small amount of current-- 10mA, I think. The 7660 handles about 5x that, I think.

Re: EXCEL Transistor Sheet

Cool idea.

You should put all of the headings on one line, and then do Data -> Filter -> Autofilter.

That allows you to search and sort very easily, setting up multiple criteria and viewing the results in a non-destructive fashion.
