Re: Throbak Overdrive Boost Schematic [traced]

Are you sure the resistor on the Bass pot is 3k9 ? On most other schematics of the original overdriver/powerboost it's 39k.

So tell me again why this thing sounds any better than my MXR Distortion+ ? :horsey:

Could also be AA112, not sure.

Could you post the capacitor values and transistor type? Not all are visible in your pictures. Thanks

Re: Cornish G2 - Guts, Schematic, Layout (from Tracer's Fund [traced]

I tried some different values for the 1nF cap, and it does make a noticable difference. A higher value mostly smoothes out the highs, and lessens the overall volume. 100pF : brighter, snappier, somewhat less full sounding, and more output volume. 470pF: a good inbetween value. 1nF (stock) : actually...

Re: Cornish G2 - Guts, Schematic, Layout (from Tracer's Fund [traced]

Btw I was not implying the trace is wrong, just that guitar->amp sounds 'different´ than with the buffer inbetween. Without the buffer circuit I feel it sounds a tad fuller or snappier for lack of better words. Though one might suspect just the opposite. In AG's trace of the Guild Brian May booster ...

Re: Cornish G2 - Guts, Schematic, Layout (from Tracer's Fund [traced]

Can someone please explain the function of C3, the 1nF capacitor in the input buffer? And would lowering it to 100pF make it brighter?

Re: Pete Cornish - NG-2

That's insane. By the way, that looks more like the G2 pcb that DirkH degooped for us. But it looks like silicons diodes in there, so it's likely a P1 or P2..

Re: Fulltone - RTO ( Robin Trower Overdrive )

I threw this together pretty quick, but it should work fine. The transistor is listed as 2sc945, but it's the same ECB pinout as the 2SC1815. PNP image is 300DPI, 2.06" x 1.39" w/ borders. Have fun! Just to be accurate to Valve Head's schematic: you forgot the 1K resistor between C1 and R...

That has already been done, the degooping at least :) the actual schematic could be on this site somewhere, not sure.

I can't believe the traces on the circuit board wheren't tinned or otherwise treated (as far as I can see) to prevent copper oxidation.

Re: Catalinbread - Hyper Pak [traced]

Why do some many builders keep their pcb's just floating around in the enclosure? If you'd put the jacks elsewhere you could have mounted the pcb securely inside the enclosure with some adhesive standoff's.

Re: Cornish G2 - Guts, Schematic, Layout (from Tracer's Fund) [traced]

You may have been looking at an older version of the schematic. That one has a 470k sustain pot and indeed no 100k to ground.

This is the right and latest one:
