Re: Anyone know how to put a gain control on a DOD FX868?
It didn't work. It made very little difference between 7and5 and that was max distortion. I'm thinking it isn't supposed to be fucked with.

Re: Anyone know how to put a gain control on a DOD FX868?
If I was adding that control to the pedal, I'd use (say) a 100k pot and put (perhaps) 56k or 68K in series with the pot. The gain of that stage would then be stock with the pot halfway, and you'd be able to vary it downwards and upwards either side of the stock value. Here's how it works: Gain Mod....

Re: Anyone know how to put a gain control on a DOD FX868?
Now, if I add another resistor is series, will I get that same range from say, 7 - 12 instead of 7 to 9? Would the resistor go to the wiper or one of the other lugs?

Re: Anyone know how to put a gain control on a DOD FX868?
Wow. How can you look at the schematic and see exactly where I need to put it? Amazing! I only had a 100k pot that would fit, so the range is between 7 and 9, but I can go from blues to full blast in thAt range. Much more manageable now. Thank you!!!!

What switch??
I have a Dan electro milkshake pedal. I put a potentiometer and switch in it and when I activated the switch I could alter the circuit bending with the potentiometer and the pedals knobs. When I turned the switch off the pedal would operate the way it was supposed to. I removed the circuit bend wiri...

Re: Anyone know how to put a gain control on a DOD FX868?
Sweet, thanks!!! How do you get the damn thing out? I've remover the bottom, and the bolts and washers for the switches, and the one screw holding the board in place and it won't budge.

Pure Analog Effects Jade Sting Octave F/T
I have a Pure Analog Effects Jade Sting octave pedal for trade. It sounds killer, and is an amazing pedal. It is actually a clone of an Armstrong Green Ringer from the 70s. I am looking to trade it for something different. I am not sure why but I will know when I find it. So let me know what you have.

Re: Pastrami overdrive
It finally worked!! I took the information you gave me and I made it work. My initial problem was that I was using the cap. I tried different cap values and finally got it going! Thank you for your help and patience!!

Re: Pastrami overdrive
No. The first time I tried it I simply soldered the potentiometer to that resistor. Resistors have two poles and potentiometers have three. Simply saying that you soldered the pot to the resistor doesnt tell us much unless you say what pole you soldered to what. Also, without unsoldering anything (...

Re: Pastrami overdrive
I absolutely agree. I tried taking a schematic and assembling it on a breadboard and it didn't work. All the mods I've done, I either saw on YouTube or had actual pics indicating which resistors, caps, transistors, etc to remove/replace.
I appreciate the help though for sure.

Re: Pastrami overdrive
I did see that and all my mods have required visual as I can read a schematic but don't understand how to get it to a board. And that looks NOTHING like mine. Thank you much though! So I'm trading it for a DOD Retro fuzz or something similar.

Re: Pastrami overdrive
Believe it or not, I've actually modified quite a few pedals, I don't not know why this one is giving me such a hard time.

Re: Pastrami overdrive
No. The first time I tried it I simply soldered the potentiometer to that resistor. I took a 3.3 capacitor and soldered that to the ground terminal of the battery, because I figured that's ground or at least a negative. I took the other end of that capacitor and soldered it to the negative of the re...

Re: Pastrami overdrive
I tried it with the risister there and got nor results. Then I tried it without the resister (removal of which, BTW, did absolutely nothing to the sound...) and it made a tempormental fuzz box. Like the Fuzz Factory but far less predictable and much worse sound. I always assumed that there was a sta...
