Re: Which brands of potentiomer are the good ones?

Are you guys trying to get things super tight or are you (ab)using the wrong tool? I've used socket wrenches and cone wrenches without stripping anything on alpha pots. I have seen stripped nuts on the concentric pots used in some Ibanez basses, either the nut or thread material used mustn't be great.

There are some on ebay, it'll probably cost you a few euro for each one.

Re: SMD tools?

I wouldn't bother buying fancy tweezers. Mine are expensive bio tweezers that have been bent or crushed and just grind them straight, they work great for 0805 and 0603 stuff. I would recommend trying a few different sizes and shapes, most people settle on one or two favourite designs and use those f...

Re: 5 pin connect jack/plug

I would use an RJ45 if possible. About the right size, 8 conductors, cables are easily available in different lengths and are easy to replace. The cable terminal is also contained inside the jack, so you don't need to worry about anything sticking out of the pedal.

Re: Chinese ebay purchases, post your good or bad sellers

I've received a few orders from sunpec and have been very happy. They only sell capacitor assortments of ceramics or electrolytics though, are there any other sellers that do cheap capacitor kits?

Re: EH Holy Stain [schematic]

... ok, yes the FV-1 is pretty diy-able. But as far as I know EHX don't use the FV-1. Edit: This is taken of the freeze but should be pretty close to what most of the modern EHX gadgets look like: https://www.freestompboxes.org/download/file.php?id=8346&mode=view Multilayer, 0805 etc.... pretty...

Re: Where can I buy replacement back panels for pedals?

I got in contact with Digitech and they've promised to have a look for some battery doors and knobs. I'm probably going to make a few back panels from some scrap sheet metal and a nibbler. I think PC cases might be too light a gauge but they're so easy to salvage I might as well give it a shot.

Re: Where can I buy replacement back panels for pedals?

If I need to get the ball rolling I have a panel from a Marshall pedal (probably a Jackhammer) which I can trade :)

Where can I buy replacement back panels for pedals?

I have a few Boss, Dod and Digitech PDS pedals in need of repair, all of which are missing their back panels. Is there anywhere I can buy cheap replacements? I was thinking I could either keep an eye out for cheap pedals to scavenge or try and fabricate panels with sheets of aluminium and a nibbler ...
