Re: BC183L

It's all in the chasing of mojo. I'll admit to doing it. I've had great fun running down the correct components and getting the circuit board just right. But, I've also been mildly disappointed when plugging in and failing to do a convincing rendition of Gilmour, or Hendrix, or etc. The magic wasn't...

The schematic that I have seen shows IC1 and IC3 being TA7136P, and IC2 is MN3002

Re: Help with a capacitor value for a charge pump

Hi guys, im currently. Uilding the deifet deizel sim over at tagboards, and there is a call for a 470uf capacitor. Sadly i onky have a 470uf 16v cap. Now with the charge pump am i going to be ok, as its a 9v input with the 7660s chip makkng a chargepump. I may have to socket and experiment with dif...

Re: Sale IN-18

Not all nixie tubes go for that kind of money, but the unused 'big' ones do. Those Russian tubes mentioned have been going for around that price for quite a few years now. Smaller tubes have been creeping up in price as they get less plentiful. Russian tubes are about all I see advertised anymore. A...

Re: Bass tube amp not loud enough

My first thought would be what is the power handling capability of the power transformer? Can it support the added current of the two added power tubes? Can the 6.3V winding support two more filaments? Sometimes transformers are designed to tight tolerances as needed for a particular design. I haven...

I probably shouldn't respond here because I do not have a legit source. But if a metal 'stainless steel' one would do as a temporary substitute (beats plastic),

Re: Stupidly Awesome Buffer [documentation]

That's almost exactly the circuit I've always used, except I tend to use slightly different bias values to you, I put RF bypassing on the input (I don't like getting the local AM radio Station through my guitar rig), and I mostly use a dual (or quad) op-amp because it's usually part of an effect ra...

Re: Sub for Bat85 - Schottkey in OCD-type circuit

OK, apologizing in advance....I haven't looked at the circuit or schematic, so I'm going out on a limb with this answer. It appears to me that by suggesting a Schottky diode or the 1N60 germanium diode, they are really saying to pick a diode with a low voltage drop.....typically .2V to .3V. Normal s...

If I may be so bold.......Do you want answers to random questions? Or, do you have a real life situation for which you are seeking a solution? If it is the later, if you would give us the specifics, perhaps we can offer a solution. I'm just saying that you will receive better answers if we understan...

Re: Schematic notes are confusing me a bit...

That is essentially correct. But please be advised of one more thing. The schematic shows your supply voltage going to three places: 1) The LED indicator 2) The Voltage divider 3) And, as input supply to the voltage regulator But, what is not shown (just implicitly implied) is the +V supply, and gro...

Re: Schematic notes are confusing me a bit...

The 9-18VDC is simply your power source. The circuit is designed for any voltage in that range. Generally speaking, the higher the voltage used, the more "headroom" you will have. The power source can be a 9 volt battery, or two 9 volt batteries in series (18V), or an external power supply...

Re: Fender Showman BF 85w loudspeaker question

OH, man! Suggesting a speaker is tough. Anyone could suggest a speaker that six people will like, and another six will think it sounds like crap. But, I'm feeling a little ballsy, so I'll start the ball rolling: The BF Showman, and the "loud clean tones and very dirty noisy riffs" statemen...

Re: Anyone ever used a Weber WPDLXFMR transformer?

As I stated elsewhere in a similar topic, I used this for my power supply. However, as I recall the 240V version is a little too large for this box. I mounted the xfmr in the center and had room on each side for 4 circuits. It's not a pretty box, but quite functional. http://www.smallbearelec.com/se...

Re: Blown fuse

I believe your assessment is correct. Assuming that your build is correct, I would venture to guess that the cause is the filtering cap. I looked up a schematic and it showed a 100uF capacitor. This capacitor is essentially a dead short upon power up. It charges quickly, but still causes a large mom...

Forgive me for asking a simple question.(I've been knocking back a little bit of Grandpa's Cough Medicine.lol) Symmetrical Clipping is with 2 Diodes.Asymmetrical Clipping is with 3 Diodes. If you use more than 3 Diodes in the Clipping Section(i.e. 2 sets of Diodes in series.) Would that still be Asy...
