Re: T-Rex Mudhoney schematic [traced]

Well. We're all friends here. To go back to ye oldee post, i was merely wondering/being baffled about the control range on switch positions. I'm not saying i'm sorry for being wrong. Range of around 1-3K vs. 1-50k. Yeah, there is gain on both. But to assume those are usable, that's another thing. Yo...

Re: T-Rex Mudhoney schematic [traced]

Guess i may be in need for more schooling, not sure. However. The V1.1 is per description on my original post on the blog https://tagboardeffects.blogspot.com/2023/01/t-rex-mudhoney-v11.html I recall reading how most of the Mudhoney DIY builds were just not sounding right.. Recently re-traced on FSB...

Re: T-Rex Mudhoney schematic [traced]

Needless to say, but i think Kasper's work finalized the issue of correct Mudhoney (rat mod) topology. So, Kudos!

Now. Anyone have a schem for Alberta?

Re: T-Rex Mudhoney schematic [traced]

Now this is rather intersting.. Doing an image search for T Rex Mudhoney schematic on duckduckgo, we get result like below. That points to False electronics blog, that links to a russian site: http://valentinych.ru/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/Pic_8.gif - which isn't loading right now (could be gone f...

I don't think anyone disputed that... :)

But i think it's cool to get the mods correct after years of erroneous clone builds that didn't sound right.

So.. Will someone try this out? Unverified atm. // aaand this is verified on the blog (4.1.2023)

Re: T-Rex Mudhoney schematic [traced]

Just so I understand you; Pin 1 and Pin 3 should just switch around? Pin numbering doesn't matter. I just wasn't sure which way the boost was on. :) The 140R+1.5K just seemed to me like a way too little resistance in the feedback. Which version of the boost switch is the older / newer / current ver...

Re: T-Rex Mudhoney schematic [traced]

Nice work on the schem! However. Are you sure about the way the boost switch is wired? In that position, when activated it takes the 2k2 in parallel with gain pot + the 150R. And that would mean the ohm value on feedback loop would be set at something like 2K1 even with 47K pot maxed. Otherwise this...

Re: Exar HR-03 Hammer [schematic] [schematic]

At least to my eyes, this seems like quite the high gain distortion that could be really cool. Although. I was wondering about the collector resistor on the gain transistor. 47K feels a bit high ohm value for a high gain device.. Anyway, here's a layout for HR-03. Unverified for now... (updated, fix...

Re: Sarno Earth Drive

Yup. Trying to hide that there was an influence from somewhere else is not all that cool. I think there's been a truckload of goop discussion before. There is simply no logical reason to do it. It'll prevent or make legit repairs way harder than they need to be, etc. I've not found any positive poin...

Re: Exar DS-02 Distortion [schematic] [schematic]

I guess some Exar pedals have their output caps reversed. No biggie, since little voltage on the wrong side won't harm the poor little cap. I still think it should always by positive side to the portion of a circuit that has higher voltage. At least for longevity. In this case, it definitely should ...

Tiny layout to clone and tweak. Left the second power filter cap put, since i don't think it does all that much.

Re: Fender - Yngwie Malmsteen Overdrive

I've got your messages. In plural.

I got ~99% of my pedals stashed away in plastic storage boxes for a few years now. Mainly due to having moved from ~200m2 house to a studio apartment. I'm sorry but i'm not going to go those boxes through to find this one right now...

You wouldn't happen to have any of the Exar Fuzzes? :)

Here's a stripboard layout for the circuit. Didn't build it myself yet, but seems to be okay.
