Re: Voodoo Lab - Micro Vibe [schematic]

I would really like to build this but I'm not sure ow to wire up the pots, etc...presumably the grey points in the schematic refer to that part. Can anybody help out? :?:

Re: Help with schematic needed

Presumably there are additional power connections to lugs 4 and 8 on each of the op amp chips which are not shown on the schematic, is that also true for the hex inverter ?(ic4) :hmmm:

Help with schematic needed

I'm trying to build a Pearl ph-01 phaser from a schematic diagram (below) and I need a bit of help to pull the whole thing together. There are arrows pointing up and arrows pointing down and I'm trying to figure out in what sense the two are meant to be kept separate, i.e if the arrows pointing up a...

Re: Toneczar - Openhaus [traced]

I'm still getting a lot of external noise coming through this pedal. Initially I thought maybe if I bought a better quality wall wart it might improve matters but now I don't think it will make any difference, the noise isn't caused by the power supply but the digital tv signal and/or wireless broad...

Re: Toneczar - Openhaus [traced]

I just realized that the OPA2604AP opamps I bought off ebay are knockoffs, probably just TL072s in disguise. They don't have the circular impression at the one end which they should have and the legs are rather cheap looking with a dull finish, bummer. :slap:

Re: Toneczar - Openhaus [traced]

The depletion mode mosfets arrived this morning and the increase in gain is drastic, its balls have just doubled in size. :D

Re: EH - Big Muff Pi ( Ram Head, Early Version )

Last week I built a '47' Ram's head pretty much according to the spec for the '47' on the Kitrae site and it sounds incredibly flappy.. in a good way, but a long way from the classic smooth Big Muff sound it should be and I'm wondering why this might be. The only deviation I can see is that I used 5...

Re: Toneczar - Openhaus [traced]

I grounded the vacant lug on the phase switch to the case and the hum problem has now gone. The whistling noise is still there but it seems to be more tolerable than before. It's not an exact clone, as you can see, I used a pair of OC141s and the case is a thin aluminium Maplin's project box which I...

Re: Toneczar - Openhaus [traced]

I't's producing a lot of noise which strangely, seems to be unrelated to the gain level. There's a constant high-pitched fax machine-like tone in the high gain switch position, even when the gain is at zero. I don't see how repositioning, or shortening wires is going to make much of a difference..It...

Re: Toneczar - Openhaus [traced]

I've got this about 98% completed now, just waiting for the LND150N3D mosfets to arrive..using 2N3819 jfets in placed of those in the meantime and it's sounding quite nice although it definitely doesn't have all the gain it should have and not as much bass as I expected either.. I'm very impressed w...

Re: Toneczar - Openhaus [traced]

OK, I'm wiring up the pots according to the veroboard layout and I'm a little confused. There is a lead to bass 1 and a lead to bass 2,3.. Is it 2 or 3 or both? Same question goes for treble.

Re: So... tone capacitors, truth or myth?

I've got maybe 15 different paper in oil values and they have similar accuracy to poly caps. None of them measure more than a few percent over the rated value. Truth or myth is a matter for your ears to decide, but generallly whatever mictester says, the opposite is true  Believe that if y...

Re: Toneczar - Openhaus [traced]

I have so far been unable to source electrolytic caps for c1 and c2 according to abfackeln/kusi's vero layout (470nf, 25v) and I'm wondering from some of the pics of various people's "Openhaus" builds if 470nf is wrong and maybe it should be 470uf, there is at least one image on here with ...

Re: Toneczar - Openhaus [traced]

Well, you can either tie two values together in series, or you can likely sub something reasonably close. I might have used a 590 in mine, can't remember. Put something in, if it doesn't sound right, swap it out. Never be afraid to experiment! I can't tell you how many times I've used values that w...
