Re: getting parts in Canada? Ottawa
Thanks for all the replies guys. However, apart from online sources, I was mainly looking for actual stores where i could go and buy components in Ottawa. I have been told about Source, Princes Auto, Active parts but none of these seem to carry basic things like even potentiometers..Any place i miss...

getting parts in Canada?
Hi all,
Just moved to Canada from UK. Wondering where do you usually get the best priced parts from over here?
Searched ebay.ca but it seems everything being sold is from USA so the postage bumps up the prices. Everything also seems far more expensive than UK. Is that the case?
Thanks guys

London-50W Stereo Power amp Circuit trade or collect
Hi Guys, I had taken this power amp out of a Sony hifi. Now i dont have time to work on it :( and Mrs want it out as no where to keep it  Rather than going in the bin(what a waste), i would like it to end up as a project with a DIY bro. Its based on Sanyo STK407-090 chip. Very powerful Ster...

I dont see why it cannot be used as a preamp channel before a power amp?
are you building the power amp yourself as well or do you have it already?

Re: Danelectro Pastrami schematic [schematic]
Thats the 100pf cap in the feedback of first stage Sorry my mistake. That cap is a 100pf to ground at the input which i have now added to the schematic. As i had already made a couple of mods in the past to the circuit before deciding to trace original  , the only part i am not 100% sure abou...

Re: Danelectro Pastrami schematic [schematic]
hi, i noticed something else from looking at some gut shots posted on flickr. there's possibly a capacitor (ceramic) missing from the schematic. it looks like it's near the input section (maybe a filter to ground), and is marked C102 on the pcb. it's pcb tracks are hidden behind a batt.clip in the ...

Re: Danelectro Pastrami schematic [schematic]
It's not really an overdrive. That configuration is more like a fuzz. Overdrive usually has diodes (of whatever kind) in the feedback loop of an op-amp, whereas fuzz has diodes to ground. Overdrive rounds off an applied signal, fuzz clips a signal into square waves! In my opinion, there is no disti...

Danelectro - DJ-01 Pastrami Overdrive [schematic]
I bought this really cheap off evilbay and while in the process of converting it into a Guvnor i thought i might as well draw a schematic off the tracing as i couldnt find it anywhere on the net myself. Its not a brilliant sounding OD, and the fact that its so cheap one better buy one than make one....

Re: which cap is this?
thanks guys for the quick response. andre, you are right. i always assumed the lot of these caps i had to be 0.1uf until yesterday when i began to doubt if its a 1u non-polar. scary thought as i would have had to pull these out of all my previous builds :p its a confusing marking and i cant really s...

It seems you might have bought 2.5mm dc socket. Get 2.1mm which is the standard size for pedals and dc power plugs.

pimp my Nevada distortion
I bought this distortion pedal new for £20 to either mod or salvage. Turned out to be SMD so going down the salvaging route. The circuit is 4558 with 500k Pot and Led's in the feedback loop. The distortion has a lot of low end but gets a bit fizzy at high gain. also there is a major loss of highs at...

Re: D*A*M - Meathead [traced]
I am having some issues with my meathead's decay it sounds pretty good while playing, but when A note is sustained it dies out very abruptly, with some fizziness at the end of the notes decay. I believe its to do with transistor selection. From what I can tell normally high gain transistors are use...

J460 K96M JFET?
While scavenging for P-JFET's i came across these components. I believe they are FET's as they were in the switching part of a hi-fi system and they look like 2SK772's. The number reads J460 K96M. Cannot seem to find any info on google. Does anyone know what are these?
