Re: Boss DD-20 Rotary Encoder?

For what it's worth after more than a month.

I am rather sure that any Wurth encoder will do the job.

If you make a documentary... pls do you homework correct. It's full of evident errors, and unfounded claims.

show a TS10 circuit board with the Maxon logo in full view and state that they werte not made by Maxon...... How tough can it be.

Re: Mint 1981 TS9 sounds gated at max drive [SOLVED]

No. This is not how they should sound and the opamp is in no way prone to be first suspect. Start off replacing all electrolits (including the NP's and the 0.22uF Tantalums) and move on from there. The experiment with a ESR and or capacitance meter is nice but tells little. Doing the measurement wit...

Re: Death by Audio - Echo Master (gut shots)

... Define wrong. That's the difficult one. If the device works, can one conclude the design is good? So, in general, the aim for a decent PCB design is to place all parts and connections in the most optimal way. After taking that into account this aim is immediately challenged by all other constrai...

It may be me but I fail to see which slot's you're referring to.

The whole board shows the job from someone who learned to use the tool but has limited electronics knowledge.

Re: Effective, safe and lasting method against scratchy pots

Brilliant discussion on keeping the device intact and "vintage correct". Meanwhile, no matter how stored, packaged or treated, without having heard this pedal I can already state that it sounds different from when it was new. And it will continue to sound different over the years to come, up to the ...

It has an input and an output so TB-ing is possible. In essence it means building the contents of a TB box inside your pedal.

Re: Ibanez - FL-303 ( Flanger) [schematic]

I cannot subscribe to that age-ing. The main and major reason for 1024's to die is because they're handled without ESD precautions. NOS does not say anything about how devices are handled. Similar the tag "original packaging" must be taken with quite some salt for a device that easily is 50 years ol...

Re: Chaser pedals / Chaser DL-4 Super delay

If the compander is dated 1983 the pedal is bult after that time. Since this pedal is rather uncommon one could expect not many were made. That in turn means that it could well be that
parts were procured from a more "local" supplier which had his compander stuck laying around for a longer time.

Re: Do you really need to Match SMD JFETs?

I would not dare to blatantly confirm. But my own experience is that when I use JFEt's that come from the same reel there's very little difference. First, and only, time I did JFET matching I got such identical results I started to doubt my setup.

Congrats on having your pedal working. However, while you have no problems with RF or noise that system works 2 ways. That means that others may have trouble because of the noise you create. While we all hate the stuff, and especially the certification, EMC regulations have been invented for a reaso...

Re: EHX Deluxe Electric Mistress v1 Repair

I am probably looking at a dead SAD1024,. What you're doing here is a classic case of assuming upfront that the defect is caused by the most difficult to replace part. Don't. I have repaired loads of BBD based effects, including SAD1024 based ones, and it was only in a very few occasions "the chip"...

Italy had a very respectable industry of electronic musical instruments in the 70's and eigthies. Especially in the synth...
