Re: Mad Professor Fire Red Fuzz [gut shots, schematic] [traced]
just wanted to give you a heads up. Built this on a Gruntbox PCB using your notes, sounds real good so far. Your conversion instructions (over at BYOC) have R24 left out. Built it without and got no sound (9v has nowhere to go), then looked closely at a pic of your build and you've got a 100R in R24...

Re: Mad Professor Fire Red Fuzz [traced]
I'd like to build this and I've got a few Gruntbox boards I can put it on.
ibodog2 - did the parts numbers on the Fire Red schematic correspond directly to the parts numbers on the Gruntbox PCB?
Cheers

Re: Fairfield Circuitry - The Barbershop (gut) [traced]
Well, tried approx. 30 J201s, sourced from a few different suppliers, and just can't get the bias of Q1 close enough to 6v, nearest is 6.4v. The two lowest voltage J201s I found bias at 6.4v and 6.7v respectively in Q1. So I have 6.4v in Q1 and the other in Q2, which then yields 6.03v, so guess Q2 i...

Cheers guys, appreciate it. Will grab a handful of 201s and get to work.

Re: Fairfield Circuitry - The Barbershop (gut) [traced]
I'm experiencing similar results with the Sag pot. With the volume constant, the Sag at minimun (full counterclockwise) yields the most output. I get a gradual reduction in volume as I turn it clockwise. Full clockwise on the Sag gives zero output. Is this likely due to the bias of the J201s? Excuse...

Re: Catalinbread - SFT
Hey, got this built from Mike's layout, many thanks. And to the rest for the work done tracing this. Just want to check the noise with this pedal. I haven't yet boxed it up, I've just tested it with my little test box (free plastic Specsavers case :)) where I connect the leads with crocodile clips. ...

Re: Univox - Superfuzz [schematic]
Cheers for the heads up Grantb. I haven't noticed any cackle or hiss, even though I did apply power to reversed 2N3904s. Will change them to see if there's a difference. It sounds like I think it should, though the trim pot seems tricky to dial in. Left to right (and vice versa) doesn't seem to offe...

Yep, using 2N3904s, so will turn around. Thanks for that, can't wait to give that a go.

Re: Univox - Superfuzz [schematic]
I'm wondering the same thing, I've built mictester's vero with row J jumpered to row N and then J to D? Not getting any sound, though the LED and bypass are working. I've also tried just having the jumper N to D, no sound there either. Now I'm wondering if having it the orginal way killed it. That l...

Re: BJF - Honey Bee Overdrive degooped [traced]
Mike - just wondering how you number the pot lugs, as you said people often comment on how you do it. I have this and your DLS layout to build and want to make sure I'm reading them right. Looking at the pot with shaft facing up, lugs facing towards me, I read them Left to Right 1-2-3. Your system a...

You can get gain selected AC128s from this German shop, I've used them a lot lately, very good service.
