Re: good tube amp without pre-amp
He may use a ECL86 tube (or ECL82 ) which has a builtin triode ( which can serve as a preamp)

Doesn't matter what age you are. There is no agelimit for real enthusiasm.

Re: Figuring out why a simple pre-amp would go incendiary!
Just my 2cents:
I've once seen a tantalum cap go up in smoke after years of duty without any problems.
So I don't trust them anymore as I used to.
It was in a mixingdesk with a symetric 24 volt psu.

Re: pearl od 5 overdrive clone problem
Pedals are sometimes exact copies of other pedals. The Pearl pedal I saw in a picture on Aion's site looks exactly like a Yamaha pedal I had in the eighties.

Hi ,
What voltage did you use to power the buffer : 9 volts or more ?

Re: Ibanez WH10 (WH10V2) in absence of replacement pots
How old is that pedal .
I once had one of the first wah pedals: a Schaller wah wah - Yoy Yoy and it had a 100 K negative log taper pot in it. It sounded great if I remember correctly. I could never trace that pot again.
Yours could also be that kind of taper.

Pedalwise, at least to my ear, it blows everything else away,
It sounds good but I don't agree with you : my Tremulus Line sounds just as good in my humble opinion.

Hi Jimi ,
The Q2 transistor is it a MSA 06 or this a typo and should it be MPSA 06? I ask because the way I read it people who used substitutes only mention one type.

Thnks for the (short) clip. I think it sounds really good. Especially in the higher regions of the guitar.

+ 1I have both, but somewhere I read he took it out of print because it contained too many errors. I really like his books, they are well written and easy to follow.
I would like to know what the errors are !

Try to find a secondhand one , should work I guess!
Or go to Merlin Blencowe's site to ask when a reprint will come out.
