Re: Way Huge - Purple Platypus [traced]

Yeah I think I came to that same conclusion on the drive pot when I was drawing up the schematic. Was so damn long ago I can't remember exactly though.

EW's right. That's a transitional model. Didn't all those have the copper side facing out?

If so, which value would work better?

Thanks
Yeah, either value will work. 200K is a less common value. Everyone's got 220K's laying around.

Their desolder iron is a good buy too. The tip doesn't last so long but replacements are cheap.

Re: Hinged Pedal Enclosures

although I'd love to have a few more options, the set-up cost is a bit prohibitive. For now I want to increase the colour range available (any suggestions, people ?) and work on getting the price down... Grey - these always catch my eye And pink - that's for Phibes (he's gey) ...get one in green, I...

Awesome job Rixen! These are cool!

The price is right on these, everybody's just being a cheap bastard. You can't really compare these to Hammonds and the ultimate biggest pile of shit New Sensor boxes. Not every DIY build has to be done for lowest cost possible.

Re: Sola Sound - Tone Bender Mark I (1965) [schematic]

I'm not super techie...but in a circuit that is transistor based...here is my understanding.... Hfe only tells you so much. Maybe the circuit was designed around a certain understanding of the transistors being used...and then, given how variable old components like GE transistors are, and how tune...

Re: Sola Sound - Tone Bender Mark I (1965) [schematic]

I'd go with the 98 in Q1, 80 in Q2 and 104 of Q3. You can swap the 98 and 104 for Q1 and Q2 but you probably won't notice a dramatic difference unless one leaks a lot more than the other. If you measured those transistors without factoring the leakage though, the actual value will be different. The ...

Re: Sola Sound - Tonebender Mark II Professional [schematic]

Bummer, making that switch uses gives a little more control on the voltage. The low to none leakage on the Russian transistor might be playing with that though. You're probably best going with what ya got now. It's always fun to fuck with all the methods though!

Re: Sola Sound - Tonebender Mark II Professional [schematic]

Yeah the bias point is at Q3 but the trimmer setting the bias is on Q2's collector (leaving the 8k2 alone and subbing the 47k on Q2's collector for a 100k trimmer). Your box sounds really good, twas just suggesting some further tweaking since you checking the DAM technique.

Re: Sola Sound - Tonebender Mark II Professional [schematic]

I went back to auditioning my build and found it was nowhere near to the sounds I was hearing from the clips on Youtube. So, I went back to the beginning of this post and read through it, and I found that Q3 wasn't properly biased. I decided to take the advice of an earlier post and installed a bia...

I tried the delay pot way back when I breadboarded it and it kinda wasn't worth it. Not a lot of tweakability with delay times that short. The switch is more practical.
