Re: Boss - BD-2 Blues Driver [schematic]

Hmm, that does sound interesting. Might also be interesting putting LEDs in the FB loop and leaving small signal diodes or schottkys to ground, or vice versa, to set the order of clipping.

Re: Dinosaural/Lovetone Tube Bender [traced]

The heart of this thing is the old Differential Distortion DIY circuit from a 1995 PE article. http://www.muzique.com/schem/diffuzz.gif It is also very similar to Keeley's Fuzz Head. (When I saw Kevin's Trace Journal mention a Fuzz Bender, I thought, "Hey, this doesn't look like the Keeley Fuzz...

Re: JHS Prestige

Inside view... That's an... interesting grounding method. Yikes. I've done something similar, but with a round solder lug on the end of the wire and a tiny bit of aluminum milled away from the top of the screw hole, so when the enclosure is closed the lug is securely sandwiched between the enclosur...

Re: Amazonbasics - Overdrive

Of course, if a pedal costs $25, then there really is no resale market if you decide to get rid of it. So I suspect that when these units start to fail due to flimsy construction and cheap parts, they will end up in local landfills. No! Don't throw that enclosure out! It's perfect for a one transis...

Romance has got nothing to do with it. Weakening eyes and shaky hands--there's your culprit, or at least mine.

Fender Starcaster Distortion is a straight clone with mechanical switching and a few small value changes. viewtopic.php?t=3347

This dude is shocked that the thing is made by NUX (or some other well known Chinese manufacturer)? Seriously?

Re: Pete Cornish - CC-1 Crunch

Cornish says this: "The CC-1™ features two fixed low gain Soft Clipping Stages preceded by a variable gain (maximum +22dB) linear preamp to compensate for low output pickups and provide extra drive to the soft clipping stages if required." Huh? Looking at the schematic, where is this +22db...

Mike Matthews needed this guy to design -- an A/B switch? Furealz?
But at least he admits that Anderton was first.

Another plus for Tayda: they come with pot condoms preinstalled, which is a really nice thing for right angle pcb mounts.

Nice. Looks like a worthwhile build. Might NE5532/NE5534 be a good substitution for TL072/TL071?

Re: 6V6 Mystery Amp

430v on the plates & 19W dissipation -- sure sounds like a 6L6 amp. The fact that Fender ran 6V6s hot isn't really relevant here, IMHO--this is supposed to be an audio amp natively, not a guitar amp. Yup measure the tranny. Cool project.

Anyone have an idea of how the Q can be adjusted? Is there a single component that can be switched or made variable? TIA

Re: TC Electronics - Dark Matter [schematic]

Considering how cheap they are, folks probably wont be much up for building clones, but it's a great sounding pedal, with great touch, as well. Some interesting stuff in there, to be sure, like the voicing switch and the gain control, and the level control being before the EQ. I don't know that I ha...
