Re: Fred Briggs - Silver Orchid Boost/Overdrive
I doubt old Fred will answer you, although I wish he would. He hasn't been heard from around here in 10 years or so. I hope he is well, although I believe he was having health challenges before that. But his contributions here are legend.

Re: Voodoo Labs - Tremolo [schematic]
Thanks for the schematic. Let see if I got everything. That H11F3 is about the bypass switching? Can we ignore it in case of true bypass version? Then I see, in the old version picture, two knobs I guess, that has a PULSE / SWELL... switch or something? It IS true bypass, as far as I can see, albei...

Re: I can't find information about this blues driver anywhere
Sure looks like a homebrew to me. I doubt anyone will have anything to tell you until you start to pull it apart and at least show the circuit board (front & back), or, better, draw a schematic.

Re: Snarling Dogs - Black dog [schematic]
I had and sold a Tweed-E-Dog a while back, and while I generally liked the way it sounded, (a) it was hissy (I know, CMOS just is), and (b) it was very touchy about bass frequencies and would saturate ugly unless you could roll some off at the input. Oh, and the enclosure, while cool, is insanely la...

Re: Looking for advice: Wiring the grounds on an isolated DC/DC converter [SOLVED]
I just took into account that both earths have a different symbol and called one analog and the other digital. They are definitely "different" because they have a different symbol. If not, I don't understand why they are labeled that way. Perhaps the author meant to imply that the other s...

Re: Origin Effects Cali76?
Pardon my opinion, that is the most expensive way to make a crappy tone. I do admit that mono dimensional tones can fit well in the mix I'm actually more into the Lowell George thing than the Black Dog thing, although I freely confess that fancy-shmancy FET studio compression is probably overkill (...

Re: Looking for advice: Wiring the grounds on an isolated DC/DC converter [SOLVED]
Ultimately, that's the answer, I guess: try it and see what happens. I explain the fact that the GND symbol at the TRACO input and output is different by the fact that it is a ground of a different character: analog and digital ground (this symbol - triangle - also indicates a signal ground). Digita...

Re: Looking for advice: Wiring the grounds on an isolated DC/DC converter [SOLVED]
Looking at those two schematics, I asked myself, why doesn't the Traco schem show any ground connection? And then I noticed that Kevin took care in the Aion schem to use different symbols for signal and earth/chassis ground, and now it all makes sense if they are kept separate. The "common"...

Assuming everything else stays more or less the same, you have an unused opamp (U2B). Why not use it as a virtual ground mixer?

Looks like a Bazz Fuss with a BMP input stage (and a cool range control inbetween) - I did something similar years ago to cure the fizzy decay of the BF, worked great. I look forward to trying this. Got a sound sample?

Hey, Bugg, if & when you issue an 1176 pcb, would consider a dual 1176 + preamp, a la the new UA pedal format, in order to capture the magic in this vid?

Re: Line6 M9 Gutshots
Yes, but it's painfully to do any kind of maintenance. Cheers, Vanderson This is a real argument in favor of old school construction, IMHO. An SMD board that goes bad is far less likely to be repaired, and therefore more likely to just get chucked into a landfill. Not that I see any way around it.

Re: A.J. Bassett, Electronic Didjeridoo, Practical Electronics, November 1964
As cspar says, T1 & T2 are phase splitters for the two inputs to the ring mod; T3 is a weird way to turn mains supply into a 50/60 hz carrier signal. I think most of us here would prefer to build the oscillator for this purpose.

Re: Transistor Sockets?
Agree with Lani. Just drop a little solder in the socket to lock the part in. Work hot & fast to minimize melting, but if the plastic melts a little, so what? This is a lot easier than desoldering the socket.
