Re: VOX (JEN) Tone Bender - circa 1966 - 197(?) [schematic]
Well, I did a little more poking and found that the carbon comp 1K output resistor on the "louder" one has drifted to 1.75K. Mine was still reading about 1K. I popped in a 2.2K to mine and it significantly upped the volume. I think this is the majority of the volume difference between my t...

Re: VOX (JEN) Tone Bender - circa 1966 - 197(?) [schematic]
I recently came across one of these and I'm trying to tune it. Compared to an identical one that I've borrowed to compare, mine is about half the volume output and not nearly the overall balls. Unity gain for mine is all the way up on level. Unity gain for the louder one is not nearly that far, more...

Re: Jordan Electronics - Vico Vibe [schematic]
Thanks allesz! I'm not sure I would have found that on my own. I had success with your mod with 2n5088s and it sounds really smooth, not choppy, and has nice range of speed. It has been a while since I visited this circuit but it always intrigues me in its simplicity.

Re: Jordan Electronics - Vico Vibe [schematic]
Thanks for the design idea. I just popped your scheme on my breadboard but I can't get anything to happen. I've triple-checked but I will rebuild it again. I can't think using 2n5088s is my issue....

Re: GasPedals - Dumbbell [traced]
Hey quick q. What does it mean by dumbbell "V2". Does that mean version 2? The pedal I was looking for was the single knob 2 switch (one boost one od) version I see on YouTube but if this is the same pedal just more knobs or something then thats cool! Another question, where can I find th...

Re: GasPedals - Dumbbell [traced]
Hey sonicmojo when you're cleaning up workbench do not crumple the paper and throw in the trash, otherwise all praise for your effort. :thumbsup I rebuilt it with most of the original parts and replaced a couple of LEDs and caps before passing it on. It worked the same so it is alive and kicking so...

Re: Malekko - Wolftone Sloika
Really has little gain and saturation command does not function well. will-scarlet can you recheck schematic again or upload guts in better resolution :?: Just picked one of these up. Spent about 10 minutes with it on a Bassman. Saturation is not a big sweep. Not huge gain either with the drive unt...

Re: Malekko - Wolftone Sloika
Lots of parts in there for sure. I'd build one but, damn, I've only got seventeen 22k resistors on hand.

Re: Haunting Mids V3 [traced]
I put this on my breadboard and I think it sounds pretty huge. I preferred 10K at R6 for use with an external gain pot and used 5088s in the 350hfe range. I think I may try a turret layout with some carbon comps and box it.

Re: Emerson Custom Guitars E-M Drive. [traced]
I've breadboarded this, because why not...I had an extra 3 minutes today. I tried 2n5088s, 2n5089, 2n2222, 2n3094, and 2n3096. The lower gain options sounded better but boring. The higher gain options just got farty and blown out with the gain cranked. That's always been my experience with single t...

Re: Emerson Custom Guitars E-M Drive. [traced]
Maybe, but I'm inclined to think this is mainly aimed at driving the input of a nice tube amp rather than primarily producing the clipping from within the transistor itself. +1 I breadboarded it and it doesn't sound interesting itself, but if I use it to drive my amp or even my OCD input then it si...

Re: Jordan Electronics - Vico Vibe [schematic]
awesome, sonic mojo! I was just coming here to see how to get a slower rate. I would also be curious on how to "smooth out" the pulse... Guess I'll try breadboarding too Glad I could help. I'm still messing around with this one. I still like .2uF for all the caps. I screwed around with ty...

Thanks for the replies. Not much I can do to tweak the vero now but I should've breadboarded the sucker first. At least I didn't make a box for it yet. On to the next one.....

Re: Seamoon - Funk Machine [schematic]
I spent a few days away and decided to bail on this. Anyone else have luck with the 1458 and Ivlark's layout? I can't get there this way. I may have to redo at some point with the 741's....

Re: Seamoon - Funk Machine [schematic]
the first 741 turns the 5088 on or off..correct? I think so, since if you pull the transistor, the filter section still works. I managed to get it to work more by adding a 1k resistor between the emitter and ground. I'm not sure why it can't handle something not being there in my case. Right now mi...

Re: Seamoon - Funk Machine [schematic]
I put together a veto based on IvLark's layout with the 1458 dual opamp but I am having a problem getting the depth section to work. If I pull the transistor, volume is good and the filter section appears to work with volume boosted. If I put it in, I get static and very, very, very low volume, almo...

I just got this. Has anyone looked into this one before? It has a TL072 FET and at least one transistor. It sounds pretty good so I might investigate further.

Re: Jordan Electronics - Vico Vibe [schematic]
Last comment on the rate, I promise! After further testing I've decided you are better off raising all of the caps in the circuit to the same values to lower the rate - say to .2uF. I was getting an interesting skipping effect going on at high speed when unbalanced. it is an interesting circuit thou...

Re: Jordan Electronics - Vico Vibe [schematic]
Increasing the cap to ground after the junction of the 560K resistors directly slows it down significantly. I experimented up to 1uF but settled around .5uF. It also affects the top end speed (slower too) so you may need to decrease the 3k3 resistor inline with the rate pot if you are using one there.
