Re: Gray JMI Vox Wah c. 1967
Paco, who did the refab board in the very top picture? That's Stuart Castledine's work. www.wah-wah.co.uk Brad/Creepy Fingers built me a mean clone! "Thin whine" is a good description. lol. I really dig the wah tones Page got and I believe The Pretty Things used one on the S.F. Sorrow alb...

Re: Gray JMI Vox Wah c. 1967
Tighter, thinner sweep. A lot less low end, more emphasis on high end and upper midrange. Page used one in The Yardbirds and the first couple Zeppelin albums. Also featured in the RAH '70 DVD.Bernardduur wrote:Now does it sound? For example compared to a standard Vox / Dunlop wah????

Re: Germanium Transistors
According to Fuzz Central, Tone Bender MKIII uses a Darlington pair for Q1 and 2. Don't know what the gains are supposed to be though.

Re: 22 gauge pre tinned?
Found some at this site. http://www.bulkwire.com/ Haven't ordered any yet but plan to soon. Pretty good prices. I can't stand the Small Bear 24 gauge. I find it a pain in the ass to work with because it's so thin.

The 2M2 shouldn't be killing the highs. Can't offer any other advice.blanik wrote:i managed to get mine working but it sounds all muffled, no highs... i was wondering if the 2M resistor at the end might kill highs... and anyway, why the hell is there a 2M2 reistor there?? (in series with the pot?)

Awesome and amazing!sonicvi wrote:I used an OC75, OC71, and CV7003. Gains around 65,95, and 90 respectively, none with more than about 250uA leakage and it sounds like this.

Re: Sola Sound - Tone Bender Mark I (1965) [schematic]
i just build a vero MkI and i can't get any of my transistors to work (got a bunch of SBE Ge generics, AC128s, 102s, etc...) all i get is a high pitched oscillation with some fuzzing in the background :-( What's the gain and leakages measure out to? Sounds like too much leakage. I had the same prob...

Re: Germanium Transistors
Is .2-.3 considered too high for leakage? I found anything over .2 didn't work in my Tone Bender MKI, but am hoping my other transistors around .3 will work for other builds like MKII Tone Benders/Supa Fuzzes.
