How about simple JFET buffer on the front end.
Me thinks that would work, correct?

I've been buying batteries at the dollar store and it seems like as soon as I pop em in their only running at 6 or 7 volts. I think it's possible both guys could have found the same thing at the same time. I found a site two years ago with a schematic for a clean boost done in a text file and built the boost. The site said the guy found the scematic in 2001 or so on a BBS. I never knew it was a SHO. BTW I changed a bunch...
